With the defeat at the hands of Lakers still fresh in their minds the sound of the Lakers fans cheering was all too real to believe. After the JV team was handed only their second loss of the season, the Cougars hit the court with all the ferocity they had in them. With hopes of revenge and victory set firmly in their minds the Varsity team would surge ahead in the first period; playing with a passion never seen before. Using their hard learned lessons to avoid Laker snares, the Cougars would run right through the defense to establish a commanding lead of 27-16 with only three minutes to go in the first half.

While the Cougar fans watched the presentation of the Lakers Coming Home Court, the Cougar team prepared to fight to keep their lead in the third period. Expecting a huge gain in momentum from the Lakers, the Cougars defense would make sure to protect their still vulnerable lead.

Despite their best efforts, the Cougars could do nothing to stop the Lakers blitz on offense, except answer back with points of their own. Although the Lakers got close to retaking the lead several times, they were always shut down by a timely three pointer by either Oakes, Pijaszek, or Sutton. After it was all said and done, in the third, the Cougar offense would manage to maintain their lead, but only by three points. The fans all wondered how long could that hold against the Lakers next charge?

The fourth period would be the ultimate showdown between two teams battling for their own reasons. Cougars fought to claim a satisfying win after the Lakers beat them at their last meeting in overtime. While the Lakers fought to give their ecstatic crowd what they wanted a 'Coming Home' win and, - - another victory over All Saints. The Cougars strength and luck could only hold off the Lakers for so long; and with 4:45 on the clock, that luck ran out. The Lakers took the lead 47-45.

Desperate for points, each team would go for it all in their attempts to crush the other. Relentlessly, the Cougars tied the Lakers and held on to that deadlock score for as long as possible. It wasn't until the clock only had twelve seconds remaining that Lakers gained a clear lead. Ahead 55-52, the Lakers scored the winning free-throw and all hope vanished for a last second victory for the Cougars. As the last seconds ticked away the Lakers fans chanted "Just Like Last Time!"

Despite the bitter loss, the Cougars played with more passion and aggressiveness then ever before. Preston Oakes added 4 triples, and 15 points to his season totals, and Mario Walker tacked 10 of his own points. Though they added another "tough" loss to their record, Coach Showalter said "they gained invaluable experience". Cougars last game of the regular season in Monday night on their home court.
