It wasn't pretty but it was effective as the Spartans enjoyed their first sweep over all Bay County teams downing John Glenn 46-23.

Pinconning used a balanced attack as Brandon Gelgado led the Spartans with ten while Josh Federspiel and Randall Howard each chipped in eight.

Defense was the name of the game at John Glenn Tuesday night as neither team was able to get their offense going.

Pinny held a slight 15-10 halftime lead in the defensive duel.

The pivotal third quarter decided the game as Pinny was able to blank their host Bobcats 15-0 for a 30-10 lead and hold on for the victory.

The win was sweet for the Spartans as they completed the sweep and moved one win closer to their first share of the North East Michigan Conference since 2000.

With a win Thursday night at Standish Sterling the Spartans (15-3, 9-2) will get a share of the title with Ogemaw Heights if they also win their final.

The Bobcats (3-16, 2-9) wrap up their regular season Friday hosting Whittemore-Prescott.
