What a week, temps in the 50's and 60's rainy and wet, when its supposed to be in the 70's?

Everyone knows their out there playing softball for the competition and to have fun but its always nice to have someone you know come watch the games.

Well, playing in the cold is one thing ... watching the games in the cold is another.

I do have to hand it to the small amount of brave souls wrapped in blankets sitting in the bleachers trying to stay warm supporting their players, as a player I know we all appreciate it. Actually what we appreciate is the time spent hanging out together after the game but nobody is hanging out in the cold weather we have been having.

Am I dreaming or was it almost 80 degrees out when we started a month ago? Anyway it should be warming up next week and players and fans couldn't be happier.

Now lets get to the action this past week. Sundays co-ed League is a semi-competitive league that plays just on Sundays.

I say semi-competitive because its a fun league but league President Brad Ayala who plays for Motown, (one of three teams he plays on)has a ringer team as they have outscored their opponents 43-3 on their way to a 2-0 record. On Sunday night they enjoyed a 17-2 win over Lighthouse Lounge.

In other action Sunday night, Bell Bar defeated F P Horak 12-9, McDonald's Defeated State Farm ( Grand Blanc) 11-10, and Bay City Health & Family Fitness beat Copoco 12-10.

Co-ed softball is very popular down at Vets as there are nine teams in both the Sunday and the Friday night leagues. They may be "laid back," in there approach but once they lace up those cleats I think even the daintiest girls or less experienced guys gets a little fire in their belly in order to win. Everyone likes to win.

Motown leads the Sunday League while Coca-Cola are 2-0 and lead the Friday night league.

I am still looking for coach's and score keepers to email me any highlights and scores from your games, if you send it to me; kevin@mybaycity.com I will be sure to include it in my next coverage article.

Todd Meyer of Hunters/Laura's Lounge fires one in modified "C" action Monday night as short stop Benji Facundo gets ready. Hunters won the game 16-10 and moved to 6-0 with the win.

As of press time there are only four teams left throughout all leagues that are undefeated; Hunters/Laura's Lounge is 5-0 in the modified "C" League, Kerkau Manufacturing #1 is 4-0 in the Western Slowpitch League, Neighborhood Cleaners in the SouthWestern League is 4-0 and Tri-City RV is 6-0 in the Eastern Slowpitch League.

This is one of those "look out," pitches in modified as Augie Facundo dives for the errant pitch against Bay Eye Care.

Good luck to those teams at keeping your record unblemished and everyone pray for warm weather to bring out more fans and keep those muscles from freezing up on us.

Bay Dust Control players strike a pose during action Monday night. Notice the Uptown at Rivers Edge property in the background and imagine what it might look like someday.
