Will our children have a shorter lifespan than we do?

Scientists are beginning to question whether our children will be able to live as long a life span as we have.

Taking control or "Dealing" with stress is, apparently, a very difficult thing to do. In fact, finding ways to "deal" with stress seems to cause many of us to have more stress. The demands of today's society and fast paced businesses have gotten us into the habit of hurried life styles, leaving us little time to take proper care of ourselves.

So, what can we do to escape the damaging grip of stress and extend our lives and the lives of our children?

To begin with, learn to recognize when you are feeling stressed. Give yourself a break and BREATH! Slow, deep, belly expanding inhalations followed by total exhalations are very relaxing and can be a saving grace when you become fatigued and irritated.

Get up and Move. Muscle movement is the mechanism that keeps our lymphatic system flowing. The lymphatic system carries away waste and toxins that have been introduced to and produced by our bodies. Additionally, if you move vigorously enough and long enough, you can generate hormones that actually make you feel good.

Hydration: Not all liquids are created equal. Pure water is the best liquid for daily hydration. There are many kinds of waters that have nutrients and electrolytes in them. These kinds of waters are not meant for daily hydration. Their purpose is to restore the body after rapid depletion from exercise or strain. Additionally, some off them have added sugar and or sweeteners to enhance the flavor; giving them added and unwanted calories. Read the labels and stay informed.

We need at least six to eight glasses of water each day. This amount of water should be consumed through out the day; not all at once. Drinking large quantities of water at once does not necessarily promote better hydration. Much of the water is quickly passed out of the body because the body cannot absorb that much water at one time. It is best to drink smaller quantities of water through out the day.

Caffeinated beverages and alcohol tend to dehydrate the body. Try to cut back and replace them with as much water as possible. Make water your beverage of choice. As you to replace less beneficial beverages with water, you will begin to feel a difference usually in about a week.

Adequate sleep is essential. Your body does its best reparative work while sleeping. For most people that is between the hours of 10pm and 6am. Also, you need to achieve what is called REM sleep for you brain to process and sort the day's events. Without enough quality sleep we are more easily fatigued and irritated; we have trouble concentrating and remembering and we can become anxious and compulsive.

Eat the Right Stuff. Actually, it's more about not eating the wrong stuff. Avoiding preservatives, processed foods, refined sugar and artificial sweeteners can improve your quality of life and your life expectancy. Add more fresh raw foods to your diet and purchase organic whenever possible. With a little pre-planning, you'll be able to avoid the fast food drive-through and the vending machines. And, you'll be spending less because when you eat healthy your body is better nourished, has fewer cravings and requires smaller portions to get the same nutritive values.

We all need to supplement our bodies. Antioxidants, botanicals and phytoceuticals (beneficial plants and fruits) can have a big impact on your overall health. Helping your body maintain healthy stem cell physiology is probably the most important thing you can do. There have been many studies done on the importance of stem cell health and what stem cells are capable of doing.

Embryonic stem cell research has been studied for a long time and has been met with much controversy. But, did you know there is another type of stem cell that is in every one's own body? Did you further know that these stem cells are called Adult Stem Sells and have the ability to differentiate and become any type of cell in the body where ever the body has a need to repair or rebuild? And did you know that since these are your own Adult Stem Cells that remain safely in your own body that there are no ethical issues involved when utilizing them to increase your health and wellness?

There are many products on the shelves these days making some pretty amazing claims. Buyers beware. Research all products you're considering. Don't buy based on price, alone. Consult your health care provider before starting any new supplementation program.

You can literally slow down the aging process by taking steps to reduce or eliminate stress in your life. As I mentioned earlier in this article, there is concern that our children may live shorter lives than we do simply because of the multitude of stress we encounter through out our lives. Children learn mostly by example. Set good examples for our children. Change your habits. Help our children live long, healthy lives.
