Chad Krager proudly displays the Earl Riskey trophy for 2008. The award is presented annually by the NPA to the person giving back to the game/promoting the game of 4-wall paddleball.
On April 19-21, 2008, Mike Wisniewski and Chad Krager (Both of Bay City) capped a perfect year with a victory at the season's penultimate, the 2008 National Doubles Tournament in E. Lansing, MI.
The duo defeated the Kalamazoo pair Mitchell/Kirkconnell in two straight games 21-11 and 21-16 for the Open Division Championship of the National Paddleball Association (NPA). The victory gave Wisniewski/Krager their first NPA Championship since partnering at the beginning of the 2007 season, and the duo has now won 4 out of 6 tournaments entered during the 2 year span.
Krager also teamed with Dennis Negrete of Schaumburg, IL to capture the NPA Class "A" Division Title with a victory over Malecki/Creamer of Midland/Lansing, MI.
NPA EARL RISKEY AWARD
Krager was also names the recipient of the 2008 Earl Riskey Memorial Award given annually to the person giving back to the game/promoting the game of 4-wall paddleball. Krager is the fourth Bay City paddleball player to receive the Earl Riskey Award. Other winners have been Randy Wackerle, O. J. Cunningham and Mike Wisniewski.

the 2008 Midwest Doubles Tournament in
Arlington Heights, Ill. He also teamed with Mike
Wisniewski to win the national open doubles
OTHER LOCAL NEWS: Paul Chritz of Bay City paired with Negrete to take the Senior Division. And, the Bay City team of Randy Wackerle and Sandy DeGrief nearly defended their 2007 crown with a second place finish in the Golden Masters (55+) Division. The Bay City duo lost to the team of Brumfield/Campbell of San Diego, CA, -- the same team they defeated in '07 (Will be a best of three rematch in 2009?)
TEAM PADDLEBALL UPDATE
On Sunday, April 13th, Bay City successfully defended its crown at the 2nd Annual Michigan Team Paddleball Championship.
The travel league is comprised of six of the major paddleball dominant communities in Michigan. Throughout the winter, each of the six cities would square off against a different city by fielding their two best teams each month.
Yesterday, all the teams gathered in East Lansing for the season finale. Bay City was represented by the team of Michael Wisniewski/Chad Krager, whom marked a perfect score of 5-0, and the team of Randy Wackerle/Paul Chritz, whom marked a score of 4-1. The combined 10-1 was more than enough for Bay City to win its second title in as many years.
Other Bay City paddleballers contributing throughout the season, included Greg Keenan, Sandy DeGrief and Scott Carmona.
