SPECIAL REPORT TO MY BAY CITY FROM PAM BINDER

There were modes of transportation at James Clement's Airport this past Sunday that will never leave the ground.

The first ever static display of Honda, Gold Wing motorcycles was a featured attraction at the airport during the 44th Annual Father's Day Fly-in Pancake Breakfast.

"The Gold Wing Riders Association is for friends, fun, safety and knowledge." Only Michigan hosts Wingless Weekend. Jon and Colleen Badour, members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, said. They both serve as Michigan Senior Chapter V Directors.

The Gold Wing Riders Association is a world wide association and has approximately 80,000 members strong.

Bay City will get a chance to see these motorcycles up close and personal twice over the next eight months. On November 1, 300 members of the Michigan Gold Wing officers' alumni will be present at the chapter V's 25th anniversary celebration at the UAW hall on Wilder.

Michigan has 45 chapters throughout the state.

In February 2009 Region D, which includes: Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, will host the Wingless Week-end for its 500 members at the Doubletree Hotel.

"A typical month of chapter V activity will include a 100 to 120 mile ride for dinner," Jon said. "And weekly runs for ice cream cones. Plus members take the safety classes we offer."

The Badours joined Golf Wing association after taking a fall color tour on their motorcycle with Colleen's friend from work in 1998.

Both Badours are 48 years old, are the youngest members in chapter V. Other members range in age up into their 70's. For more information go to http://www.gwrra.org -- For Michigan information click on Michigan/Chapter V
