Neighborhood Cleaners remains the only undefeated team in mens recreation softball in 2008.

Neighborhood cleaners (11-0) played Stretch's Curve Bar (8-3). In the first inning Neighborhood jumped out to a 4-0 lead, then made it 5-0 in the second and 7-3 in the third. In the fifth, Stretch's cut the lead to 7-5 then tied it in the bottom of the 6th 7-7. Both teams were held scoreless in the seventh on great defensive plays. In the 8th Shaun Seidler hit a three run in the park home run and then they added one more run to make it 11-7. Stretch's came up and got two men on, their next batter hit a fly ball to left field and the runner from third scored on the sacrifice, but the runner on second left early so he was called out on the force. The next batter singled bringing the tying run to the plate, the batter popped out to center field, leaving Neighborhood cleaners undefeated 12-0 with the 11-9 victory in extra innings.

On Wednesday Neighborhood met (10-1) Copus Orthodontics in a game that could have been for the league Championship.

Copus never got their bats rolling as Neighborhood pounded out 12 runs and won a mercy rule in six innings 12-2 to remain undefeated.

Washington Street Pub could have picked up a game on League leading Glacier Financial but lost 12-10.

In modified "A" league Glacier Financial (11-3) moved one game closer to clinching as they won a close one over their nearest threat, Washington Street Pub (9-5) 12-10 in a hotly contested game to move two games up on the second place Pub team.

Modified B league wrapped up their league Championship and their post-season tournament already with Putnam Electric/Bell Bar winning the league title and KC Welding avenging their second place finish by winning the tourney.

In modified C League there was a three way tie for first place with Hunters Bar, Hooters and Keits/Rycek all deadlocked at 10-4 until Hooters beat Rycek Wednesday night to move into a two-way tie with Hunters.

It will all be on the line Monday night as Hooters meets Stevens Van Lines at 7:45PM then Hunters plays Keits/Rycek at 9:00PM.

Hooters controls their own destiny with a win they will clinch their first league Championship in five years. If Hooters Looses and Hunters wins, Hunters will be league champs, if both teams win and end with identical records Hooters gets the Championship because they will hold a 2-1 regular season record advantage over Hunters.

On a sad note, Kasey Bauer a member of the Championship team Putnam Electric/Bell bar and league leading Kerkau Manufacturing was involved in a car accident coming home from the state qualifier in Midland and is still in an induced coma from his injuries.

Kerkau Manufacturing team began wearing number two in honor of team mate Kasey Bauer who was injured in a car accident coming home from the state qualifier.

There will be a benefit dinner for him and his family in August, there will be fliers down at the fields as to where and when it will be held.
