Another Terrific Tuesday In the Park!

The Last performs folk and rock songs from the 1960s.
The audience watches as The Last performs a familiar tune
Last evening, on July 15th, The Last performed at Doc. Letchfield Park in Pinconning as part of a series of concerts, known as "Tuesdays in the Park." Chris Fenner was originally scheduled to appear, but had to cancel due to a personal conflict. The Last, a folk and roll group as they called themselves, replaced Fenner and performed a mix of folksy/rock and roll music from 7 pm to 8 pm.
The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, there was a breeze, people came early and brought lawn chairs, coolers, snacks, and even their dogs. The atmosphere changed when the first chords of the first song were struck. The audience began to sway and some even sang along as the band played their first song, Hey Mr. Tambourine Man. Other performances included the song California Dreamin' and songs by The Byrds, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Joe Cocker.
The band was very interactive with the audience during their concert. For instance, they asked for volunteers to come play tambourines with them, listened when song requests were made, and gave an encore at the audience's request.
Not only was The Last popular with the audience, but apparently the whole Tuesdays In the Park concerts are popular with Pinconning residents as well. One concert goer commented how upset he was with himself for missing the Tri-City Chorus of Sweet Adelines, who performed last week.
Another audience member, Pat Cassle, admits, "I come every Tuesday to the concerts. It gives me something to do. Whight Lightening, who aren't performing this season, are my favorite. But The Last was pretty great too!"
According to Ellen Charlebois, who helps put together these Tuesday concerts with her husband Bob, these concerts have been going on for five years and, depending on the weather, the audience can number around 100 people. Sponsored by Tubular Metal System, the goal of Tuesdays in the Park, according to Charlebois, is "to provide a wide variety of musical styles."
And by looking at the schedule of upcoming it events, it looks like they are succeeding with that goal. Next week, on July 22, Redline, a classic rock band will be performing. On the week after that, July 29th, Walt Garbulinski and the Original Polka Boys will be the main event. And coming in August, on August 12th, Bob Bloenk, a comedian magician will appear (and perhaps disappear). So bring your lawn chairs, bring your children, or bring a friend and go spend a relaxing Tuesday evening in the park!
