Ashley LaForest, 19 year-old, was chosen as the new Miss Bay County 2009, held at Garber High School, Tuesday Night. The Miss Bay County Competition featured Eight contestants from our area.
Moments after being selected, LaForest shared her excitement about winning the Miss Bay County title. "I am already looking forward to my duties this year - traveling, meeting new people and getting the word out about my platform, which is Cancer- Early Detection," said LaForest.
As Miss Bay County, LaForest has the opportunity to compete for the Miss Michigan title in Muskegon, next June. Currently a student at Delta Community College, LaForest is majoring in Advanced Science and hopes to pursue a career as a Ultra Sound Technician.
Parents are Tracie Webb and Jerome LaForest of Saginaw.
1st. Runner-up is Sydney Learman, 20 year old. Parents are Michael and Lindsay Learman of Bay City
2nd. Runner-up is Rebecca McDonald, 20 year old. Parents are William and Billie Jo of Bay City.
Miss Congeniality Award went to Kelly Bonds, 17 year old. Parents are Steve and Pam Bonds of Bay City.
