The Saginaw Basin Land Conservancy works to maintain the quality of life in the Saginaw Bay Watershed through the preservation of important wetlands, waterways and land of all types. The Conservancy is a non-profit charitable 501(c)(3) organization working in all 22 counties that comprise the Saginaw Basin. To date, the Conservancy has protected more than 155 acres in five preserves and 3,350 acres in 35 conservation easements.

(Editors Note from Julie McCallum)

The Turkey Vulture is approximately 26-32" in size, with up to a 6 foot wing span, which this particular one definitely met or surpassed those dimensions. (At first glance, it looked like a horse - laying down in my back yard.) They feed on carrion, just about any dead animal of any size. In the top picture the vulture has its wings outstretched usually to catch sun.
