"It's the obvious next step," said Publisher/CEO O.J. Cunningham about the upcoming premier of TriCityBuzz set to begin airing October 18 on
Charter Mainstreet Television.
Cunningham is the President/CEO of OJ Advertising, Inc (OJA).
The OJA group includes Mid Michigan Computer Consultants (MMCC), Bay City Homes Magazine (Both on-line INTERNET and paper publication) as well as the MyTriCity News franchise that has active on-line newspapers covering Bay City, Frankenmuth, Pinconning and the Tri Cities.
"The MyBayCity (TriCityNews) franchise has been so successful," Cunningham said. "It's just the natural next step to move forward into television video."
The new
TriCityBuzz.TV ) is scheduled to show at the following times on
Charter Mainstreet: (Charter Channel 5 in Bay City & Saginaw, Charter Channel 25 in Midland)
9:00 AM Saturday Morning
9:00 PM Saturday Night
9:00 AM Sunday Morning
9:00 PM Sunday Night
The program will also be available "ON DEMAND" via Charter Digital Services.
Cunningham went on to explain that his MyBayCity (TriCityNews) on-line publication syndicate has been growing exponentially in popularity during the past four years.
MyBayCity.com, the flagship, started publishing community-related news back in 2004. Dave Rogers, Julie Munger (McCallum), Karen Polega, and Steve Kent have been on-going contributors to the MyBayCity project.
MyBayCity (MyTriCityNews) Contributors: (L/R) Steve Kent, Julie McCallum, Dave Rogers, Marlo Leveling and Karen "Karen's Korner" Polega.
"We are showing over a half-million page views per month," Cunningham said about the readership of the MyTriCityNews on-line syndicate. "We're known for our excellent photo coverage," Cunningham said. "But (now) all everyone wants to talk about is video."
MyBayCity got involved in video in the on-line arena with the weekly coverage of the "Michigan's Got Talent" singing competition at Stables during the past year and a half.
"There was tremendous response to the video coverage," Cunningham said. "Video was what the readers wanted so we gave it to them. Now they want it all the time," Cunningham went on to say.
Cunningham is no novice when it comes to television video.
Cunningham, along with former Bay City resident Tim Roller formed BugWater Media back in 2005. The two have published two nationally successful Steelhead/Salmon fishing DVD's and also have a successful national cable television show -- Tim Roller's Wild Addiction -- that shows three times weekly on the Sportsman Channel (Charter Channel 217).
"It kinda gets in your blood, this television thing," Cunningham laughed. "When people give you positive feedback, I tend to produce what draws the most applause," Cunningham added.
Cunningham has brought Lori Maxson of Northstar Video on board to handle the technical, editing and production duties. "Maxson probably has more experience in local video production than anyone on the planet," Cunningham said. Maxson has extensive local Charter Television experience and would be best known for her
"Charter Hometown" segments that played for years on Charter television.
MyBayCity (TriCityNews) personalities Julie McCallum and Dave Rogers will be the mainstay personalities on the Tri City Buzz television program. (You can see more at
TriCityBuzz.TV )
Regular weekly features will include a "man on the street" type interview, cooking segment, entertainment segment and a "flashback" look at some local history. O.J. Cunningham will "anchor" the show from his downtown studio but guest hosts will always be "in the wings."
First Show: Saturday 9:00AM - October 18, 2008 (Set Your DVR).
