Among Theresa O'Shea's 19 grandchildren are many involved in sports, keeping her busy continually going to different games.

"There's high school football, girl's basketball, junior high football, baseball -- it really keeps me going," says Theresa.

However, since four grandsons all play on the Central High Wolves football team, she saves a lot of time when that group all takes the field together.

Central's gridiron lineup includes Theresa's grandsons Tim Hanson, a senior fullback/linebacker, 6-0 and 190 pounds, and Greg Hanson,sophomore offensive tackle/linebacker, 6-3 and 235; Ryan O'Shea,junior, linebacker/wingback, 5-11 and 190; and Jeff O'Shea, senior center, 5-11 and 225.

Tim and Greg Hanson are the sons of Bill and Linda (O'Shea) Hanson; Ryan is the son of Pat and Tammy O'Shea; and Jeff is the son of Mike O'Shea and Mary O'Shea.

Ironically, all the fathers of the current Central football players who are Theresa's grandsons, were football players themselves -- at T.L. Handy High -- and all were Golden Helmet award winners selected by The Bay City Times.

In fact the O'Shea athletic tradition goes back four generations and involves three different high schools: St. Mary, Handy and Central. Theresa's husband, the late John O'Shea, was a football player at St. Mary High in the 1940s, and his father, Ed O'Shea, was a coach at St. Mary.

John O'Shea also was an active football referee for many years in the 1960s and 1970s.

Theresa and John O'Shea had six children, three boys and three girls. That started a sports tradition that has resulted in an unusual sports highlight -- four grandsons on the same team.
