It was billed as a winner take all game as both teams entered the contest atop the North East Michigan Conference. No. 2 ranked Standish-Sterling in Division 5 versus No. 3 ranked John Glenn in Division 3 for all the marbles.

It had all the ear marks of a tight hard fought contest. What you don't expect is to loose your leading rusher to a broken foot the night before the big game.

As the two teams battled up and down the field, it was the Panthers that struck first. All world quarterback, Austin Collier connected with Cole Walderzak for a 23 yard touchdown and a first quarter Panther lead.

Facing a very strong Panther defense and short handed with Matt Balen injured, John Glenn was not able to dent the end zone in the first half. Standish-Sterling took advantage of this by orchestrating a second scoring drive in the half. Collier hit Mark Lorence for a 25 yard strike and a second touchdown giving Standish-Sterling a 15-0 half time lead.

Known for their half time adjustments, Glenn came out and engineered a 14 play scoring drive of their own. Tyler Clemons scored from one yard out to pull the Bobcats within 8, 15-7.

But this was to be Collier's and the Panther's night. Collier broke through the middle of the Bobcat defense and scampered 46 yards to put his team on top 21-7. Standish-Sterling wasn't finished.

Soon Collier had the Panthers on the march. He threw his third touchdown pass to a third receiver and just like that, they were up 28-7 late in the third quarter. Then just over half way through the fourth quarter, Collier finished off the scoring with a 65 yard touchdown run of his own. This put the Panthers up 34-7 and in possession of the conference crown.

For the night, Austin Collier accounted for 324 of the teams 432 total yards of offense. He had 209 yards of rushing was throwing for 7 of 10 for 115 yards. John Glenn was lead by Tyler Clemons who had 91 yards on 16 carries while Brandon Wrzesinski added 50 yards on 9 carries.
