Amid the rain and the mud, the All Saints Cougars took on the undefeated Carrollton Cavaliers to fight for a coveted place in the upcoming playoffs.

Despite being the underdog, the Cougars were ready for a fight, and immediately after "Brettman" Campbell kicked to the Cavs, the Cougar defense stubbornly held their ground. After some big stops, the Cavs were forced to punt the ball away and send out their battle-hardened defense against the Cougars momentum.

Try though they did, Carrollton just couldn't stop #24 Aaron Janer who managed to punch in the first touchdown of the night for the Cougars.

But the Cavaliers weren't about to let this score go unanswered. The Cougar defense that had held firm against an earlier Cavalier offensive drive, crumbled before the ferocity of this Carrollton drive, and allowed the Cavs to snatch away the lead with a touchdown and extra point. The Cougars threw everything they had against the dug-in Cavalier defense, but were unable to score again before the first quarter ran out.

The second quarter was a defensive standoff in the pouring rain. Both teams struggled to pull off a big play and it wasn't till the last three minutes of the first half that the game got interesting.

The Cavaliers had just broke through the Cougar's defense and scored another touchdown and with the extra point, to make the score 14-6. With a little over two minutes remaining, the ball was turned over to the Cougars deep in their own territory. The odds were stacked against them, but that didn't bother any of the Cougars who knew what they had to do.

After #11 Kevin Bisel labored to secure precious yards, it was Aaron Janer who, yet again, shocked everyone with another touchdown. Seconds later it would be Janer again who connected on a two-point-conversion to tie it up at the end of the first half 14-14.

After the halftime, the Cougars taught the Cavaliers to respect the name Janer. Barely two minutes into the second half, Aaron Janer scored his third touchdown of the night for the Cougars. The scoreboard now read 20-14 in favor of All Saints.

The Cougars now turned to defensive mode. Showing as much flair as they did on offense, the Cougars stubbornly held their ground against the Cavaliers, who were fighting to keep their dreams of a perfect season alive. The Cougars ball-control tactics paid off, and they were able to run the clock down on the third quarter. The stage was now set for an explosive fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter was the final test for the Cougars. The tone of the quarter was quickly sent when Cougar #1 Josh Sutton (who recently became the fourth Cougar to receive a Golden Helmet award) broke through the Cavaliers defensive line and raced 45 yards to score another Cougar touchdown. With an extra point tacked on, the score would be an unbelievable 27-14.

The shocked Cavaliers were facing their first loss of the season, and they knew it was time to do or die. With that in mind, the Cavaliers turned up the heat on offense and made some big plays that resulted in a Cavalier touchdown. Once the extra point was added on the score would be 27-21 with the Cougars still clinging to a narrow 6-point lead.

The Cavaliers were desperately trying to gain momentum, but Sutton wasn't about to let that happen. With the Cougars drive at 4th and 2, Coach Bisel sent Sutton back out to his team with orders to go for it, rather than punt. It was a risky play, but it paid off when Sutton secured not only the first down, but surged ten more yards to score another touchdown! After Campbell sent another extra point soaring in between the goal posts, the Cougars now held a 34-21 lead, with only 1:49 left on the clock.

The desperate Cavaliers were able to connect on a couple key passes to score one last touchdown and extra point; but it wasn't enough to save their goal of an undefeated season.

The Cougars would claim a 34-28 victory, and secure their place in the playoffs. A ecstatic Coach Bisel would attribute the win to "big plays, and Josh (Sutton) and Aaron (Janer) who played terrific tonight".

The Cougars played an amazing game, rushing a total of 378 yards! 229 belonging to Janer, and 110 to Sutton.

The Cougars regular season ends with their record 6 wins, and 3 losses. With this victory, the Cougars have secured their place in the playoffs and will head back onto the gridiron next week.
