Terry L. Rock, director of marketing and business development, Delta College Corporate Services.
People are living longer and working longer. Four generations are now in the workforce and Delta College has developed a workshop to work through generational differences.
Terry L. Rock, director of marketing and business development for Delta College's Corporate Services (DCCS), will speak to the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Eyeopener Breakfast Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. at the Kingfish Restaurant on this new program.
For reservations to the breakfast, please call the Chamber at 893-4567.
For 23 years DCCS has been providing high-quality training administration, development and facilitation services to business and industry in 65 countries and 47 states.
Delta College Corporate Services is the business training arm of the College, responsible for delivering performance improvement solutions to businesses locally, nationally and world-wide.
DCCS was named one of the "Top Training Outsourcing Companies" in the country for the third consecrative year by TrainingOutsourcing.com. Delta was the only community college and only one of two educational institutions selected to the prestigious list.
Paul F. Seidel, executive director of Delta College Corporate Services, recently was elected to the board of governors of the Automotive Training Managers Council, a national OEM and aftermarket trade organization. Seidel joined the Delta staff in 1979.
DCCS receives no tax support from the local communities and therefore is authorized to provide services to companies outside of mid-Michigan.
Mr. Rock says: "This workshop defines today's multiple generations in the workplace and builds awareness of issues resulting from these diverse employee populations."
The workshop also helps employees engage and communicate better across generations, and offers different approaches to feedback for working through generational issues toward greatest organizational effectiveness."
By the end of this workshop:
Participants will be able to identify characteristics of multiple generations in the workplace and their values;
Identify workplace implications for dealing with diverse generations;
Set the stage for employers to identify potential problems when different generations work together;
Pro-actively address issues with the positive intent of team-building across generations for greater effectiveness; and
Sensitize themselves regarding generational issues and, given different approaches to feedback, engage more effectively with others.
