Like TNT, Central shows they "knows drama" as they perform the Miracle Worker. If there hard work and commitment to perfection is any indicator, this should be a terrific performance.

The Miracle Worker is a story about Helen Keller. As most of us know, she lost her ability to see, hear or speak when she was very young. This resulted in her losing her ability to communicate. Helen's parents sought out a teacher named Annie Sullivan. Ms Sullivan was saddled with the task of teaching Helen Keller sign language through feeling the touch of the sign letters. Annie Sullivan was then able to teach Helen Keller names to things which helped open up the world to her by adding meaning to the touch.

With a drama of this magnitude, Director Pam Barns has selected experienced actresses to carry off these powerful roles. Caroline Asiala, a sophomore, plays the role of Helen Keller. Ms. Asiala has performed on stage since she was 6 with the Bay City Players and was able to do plays at Central High when her sister attended there and in the summer, she has performed in the Share the Fun plays at John Glenn. She noted that "It was really difficult to act blind and deaf. The deaf part, actually is easier than acting blind because if your moving around on stage you have to act like you're not seeing any of the objects that you are supposed to be holding or touching or moving around. You have to maneuver your way by feeling everything. But being deaf is much easier because you just can't react to any sounds."

Caitlyn Walsh plays the character of Annie Sullivan. As a senior, she is in only her second play but she has also done the musicals at Central as well. Annie is the teacher of Helen who was once blind herself and has become a teacher with Helen as her first student.

After the rehearsal the student actors give their views of how they performed and their fellow actors.

Evelyn Travis plays the character of Kate Keller, Helen's mother. She was very caring but she didn't know how to care for Helen not having cared for a blind and deaf child before. She found it hard to play the role of a mother given her teen age and not having been a mother. But he has learned to look at things from that side and now feels comfortable with the role. Evelyn is a junior and has been performing since she was 3 years old at school, at the Bay City Players and other places.
