The high school girls basketball season was ushered in Tuesday night with the annual Bay County Tip-off Classic. And what better way to get things started than a cross town rivalry of Garber and John Glenn.

From the beginning, Garber showed their quickness as they jumped out to a 6-0 lead thanks to steals leading to easy baskets. John Glenn settled themselves down and began chipping away at Garber's lead. By the end of the first quarter, the Bobcats found themselves on top 10-8.

The second quarter saw both teams trying to find their shooting touch as the first game excitement was evident in their play. By the end of the first half, Garber appeared to be finding their groove as they held a 21-19 lead.

The Dukes took the game over in the third quarter hitting five of their first seven shots. They continued by pushing the ball up the floor, breaking Glenn's press and finding the open girl. The result was a 17-6 third quarter advantage and a 38-25 lead.

John Glenn regrouped entering the fourth quarter. They came at the Dukes narrowing the margin to 42-35. But Garber's quickness proved to be too much as the Dukes finished with a 8-2 run and a date in the Championship game.
