At the start of the season, Garber had taken down John Glenn handedly in the opening round of the Tip-off Classic. Don't think for a second that the Lady Bobcats forgot about that defeat. Further, they had several weeks to work on their game and it showed.

Garber started the game with tight defensive pressure which allowed them to control the ball for most of the first two minutes. Unfortunately for the Dukes, it wasn't until Kelsea Zimmerman hit a jumper that they were able to score making it 2-0. Soon, both teams went to a press and with tighter defense came even tougher offensive opportunities. This allowed Glenn to get on track and by the end of the first quarter, they were on top 8-6.

The second quarter saw much the same defensively. With John Glenn using a smothering 3-2 press, Garber tried to make quick passes to find an open shot. But Glenn's guards rotated quickly causing Garber to hurry their shots. This cold shooting combined with tough rebounding by Glenn's Laura Bluhm (14 rebounds) and Taylor Finn (10 rebounds) resulted in fast break points and a 20-17 half time lead.

The tight defense for both teams continued in the third quarter. While Garber continued to focus on stopping Glenn's Laura Bluhm, the Bobcats blanketed Kelsea Zimmerman and Molly Braun forcing the Dukes to look elsewhere for shots. The result was Garber began forcing shots without success. Glenn took advantage of this by pushing the ball up court leading to more open shots and lay ups. But the Bobcats could only add three more points to the lead and went into the fourth quarter with a 30-24 edge.

The fourth quarter saw the determined Dukes turning up their own defensive pressure. Utilizing a baseline to baseline full court press, they began to chip away at the Bobcat lead.

With 3:30 left to play, Glenn went to a ball control stall offense in an attempt to force the Dukes to chase and foul them. This strategy quickly backfired as the Dukes where able to steal the ball and when they found Janelle Urban alone at the backdoor, Garber was within one point, 34-33. Then Ashton Morse poked the ball loose and a quick pass to Kelsea Zimmerman resulted in a foul. Zimmerman made one of the free throws to tie the game, 34-34 with 1:37 to play.

By now, both teams were in the double bonus situation which awards two shots on any foul instead of one and one. Glenn's Audrey Oleniacz tested this bonus when she was fouled getting a rebound with 1:14 left. She converted one of the two shots putting Glenn back on top, 35-34.

With less than a minute to play, Garber's Molly Braun was fouled but unable to convert on the free throws. Taylor Finn grabbed the rebound and was fouled almost immediately. She made one of her free throws putting Glenn up by two with 54 seconds to play.

Garber then stole the ball with 30 seconds left and a quick pass to Ashton Morse resulted in a game tying basket. Under tight pressure, Glenn moved the ball up court and found Audrey Oleniacz open on the left side where she banked in a long shot with 18 seconds to play giving Glenn a 38-36 lead.

Garber quickly moved the ball up court but was unable to get off a decent shot thanks to the smothering Bobcat defense and Glenn came away with a hard earned win.

For the night, Glenn's Laura Bluhm and Taylor Finn lead all scorers with 12 points apiece. Kara Brewer came off the bench to lead Garber with 9 points while Molly Braun and Ashton Morse added 8.
