All Saints' struggling girls varsity team started off the nights action on a high note. The teamwork and determination they have worked so hard to find was present in the first period. Strong defense and key rebounds allowed the lady Cougars to capture the lead for the first period 12-7.

The second period was less successful. The Patriots tripled their score while the Cougars only added seven points to theirs. Ashley Bowker #24 said after the game that her team's game "Dropped a little bit in the 2nd period." But despite the bitter 2nd period, it was still any body's game.

The third period was a battle for every point. Strong defense from the Cougars kept the Patriots from adding to many points to their lead, but unfortunately the Cougars offense only managed to add three scant points to their score; a far cry from what they needed.

But the Cougars weren't out for the count yet. Excellent offensive tactics, and key free-throws allowed the Cougars to knot the score up 38-38 with a little over four minutes left in the game.

From that point on however, the Cougars fire just wasn't there. Turnovers, and fouls were quickly capitalized on by the Patriots who quickly built up an impressive 51-38 lead that ended up being the final score.

Taylor Timm #22; whose determination on defense helped to keep the Cougars in the game, said that the Cougars "Played as a team" and that they gave this game ?%". Bowker, and Louise Rezmer #14 said that their team motto still is "Any team can be beaten on any given day". Hopefully their determination will help to change their fortunes on the hardwood. The Cougars will hit the road for three straight away games, but will return to their home gym on January 29th to take on Vassar.
