Teams find motivation in many ways. For Garber, it was of a fellow basketball player from the junior varsity who had unexpectedly passed away over the weekend. Sporting tall socks in his memory, the Dukes came out highly motivated. This spelled doom for the visiting Cardinals.

The Dukes literally exploded out of the gates with two quick baskets in 37 seconds requiring Millington to call a timeout before things got too out of hand. But Garber wasn't to be slowed as they scored two more times before Millington was able to get on the score board. Led by Brett Eichhorn's inability to get trapped and his precision passing, the Dukes banged out another 6-1 run before settling for a 20-10 lead at the end of the third quarter.

The second quarter saw Garber's Mike Schroeder dominate both ends of the floor. Offensively, the Dukes went to working the ball inside with drives, dishes and dump ins to Schroeder. The 6 foot 4 inch junior center rang up 10 of Garber's 16 second quarter points. On the defensive end, Schroeder patrolled the middle blocking shots and causing shot changes and holding Millington to 9 points. This stretched the lead to 36-19 at the break.

The game slowed down in the third quarter. Trying to get back into the game, Millington went to a perimeter handoff game looking for an opportunity to drive the lane. But the quick footed guards and Schroeder in the middle held Millington to 7 stretching the lead to 21, 47-26.

The fourth quarter got interesting. Holding a 21 point lead, Garber looked to give the bench significant playing time by sitting the starters. But Millington kept their starters in and went to the press. Between Millington steals and Garber missed shots, the Cardinals pulled within 8 points with over two minutes to play. With it getting too close for comfort, Garber put its starters back in a finished the job, winning 59-52.

Jake Hebert and Mike Schroeder both led Garber with 16 points with Jesse Kenniston adding 11. While Brett Eichhorn only scored 4 points, it was his quickness, dribbling and in the paint dishes that fueled the Garber offense.

Millington was lead by senior Tyler Reinert's 25 points with Cameron Wilson adding 10.
