Midland, Saginaw, and Bay City, MI - A free Fundamentals of Starting a Business seminar will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Grace A Dow Memorial Library in Midland on Thursday, March 5; at the Hoyt Main Library in Saginaw on Thursday, March 19; and at the Delta College Planetarium in Bay City on Tuesday, March 24, 2009.

The seminar is for those who would like to start a small business or for those who would like to become acquainted with community and business resources.

Topics include what it takes to start a business, where to go for information and assistance, the business plan and why you need one, licenses and permits, funding and the myth of "free money," and resources available to help set up your business.

Seminar sponsors are Grace A Dow Memorial Library, Midland Chamber of Commerce, Hoyt Main Library, Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce, Delta College, Bay County Clerk, Alice and Jack Wirt Public Library, and the Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center.

The MI-SBTDC is a partner program of the U.S. Small Business Administration and provides confidential, no-cost business counseling services, training and research for Michigan's new business ventures, existing small businesses, expanding businesses, new technology companies, and innovators.

Funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and is not an endorsement of any products, opinions, or services.
