Pinconning has been on a mission all year to win the NEMC. Having come in second three of the last four years, they were not about to let their first chance to clinch as least a tie with three games remaining to get by them. Standing in their way was a John Glenn them that while they had beaten twice before this season, has been playing much better inspired basketball. This had all the earmarking of a great contest - and it was.

Pinconning came out with their aggressive defense that prevented Glenn from getting started. Using their quick passing to beat the Bobcat zone, Pinconning pulled ahead 5-0 in the first three minutes. But this is not the same John Glenn team the Spartans met in the Tip Off Classic. Glenn moved the ball much more efficient and came back to trail Pinconning 12-9 by the end of the first quarter.

The Battle continued in the second quarter. While Glenn's hustle kept Pinconning from getting great looks at the basket and matched the Spartans shot for shot, it was Pinconning dominating inside play behind 6'5" Lucas Foco that kept control of the boards. Going into halftime, it was anyone's game as Pinconning held a 3 point lead over John Glenn 21-18.

The third quarter saw much the same action as both teams looked to run at every chance. But the face pace worked to Pinconning's advantage as they began to pull away. Glenn's aggressive play started cost them as they racked up some fouls helping the Spartan cause. By the end of the quarter, Pinconning had stretched it's lead to 35-25.

Thanks in part to their relentless press, the Spartans scored the first two baskets of the fourth quarter expanding their lead to 39-25. But the Bobcats were not about to back off. Moving the ball quickly, they were able to beat the press and attack the basket. Aided by three pointers from Jaye Kudrow and Jordan Schumann and a fourth quarter hot hand by Zach Schultz who knocked down 8 of the last 9 points for Glenn, the Bobcats were able to move within four points of the Spartans.

The final blow came with just over one minute to play. Pinconning was using a ball control eat up the clock offense when Andrew Holbrook knocked down a shot putting the Spartans ahead 51-43. The eight point lead was enough to hold off the Bobcats and Pinconning came away with at least a share of the NEMC title with a 52-47 win.

Lucas Foco lead all scorers with 20 points and added 14 rebounds for Pinconning. Casey Pashak added 11 points while Andrew Holbrook and Travis Garbulinski chipped in seven. John Glenn was led by Jaye Kudrow 13 points while Brett Wesenick and Zach Schultz each had nine.
