Central Wolves found things tough going against the Midland Chemics. After scoring the opening basket, Midland clamped down the rest of the first quarter. Midland reeled off 17 points while only allowing a free throw the rest of the quarter to take a commanding 17-3 lead.
Things weren?t much different in the second quarter. Midland controlled much of the boards and capitalized on Central ball handling miscues. Defensively, the Chemics kept pressure on the Wolves limiting shots to build a 28-9 half time lead.

"We just didn?t follow the plan in the first half", commented an obviously frustrated Central Coach. "We scored nine points by halftime. We weren?t clicking. We shot 3 for 23. We got some good shots, they just didn?t fall."
The game picked up for Central in the second half. Showing more life, the Wolves pressured Midland getting some turnovers for themselves. By the end of the quarter, Central had outscored the Chemics, 16-12 but had put little dent into the lead, 40-25.
Central had to be aggressive if they hoped to get back into the game. But as they pressured Midland, the Chemics countered with a few long passes to open teammates to erase any advantage Central had gained. The game turned into a running affair with the final being 57-35.
"We have to move as a team, move as a unit", noted Coach X. "We are not anticipating enough. We are reacting to things that are happening instead of anticipating so we are always a step slower."
In commenting on his players? lack of scoring, he stated: "We have got to find our shooting touch by someone else besides Danette (DeCorte). We scored 35 points and Danette had 27. So that?s only 8 points by everyone else. We have to have some scorers besides her. We need someone else to step up."
