Coming off a solid week of practice, the All Saints Cougars took on the Vassar Vulcans at their home gym. For the now 12-6 Cougars, the game couldn't have gone any better defensively.

As soon as #34 Mario Walker won the tip-off for All Saints, the Cougars went to work. Smart plays from the Cougar starters, mixed in with a few 3-pointers from #20 Adam Pijaszek, put the Cougars up early.

While the Cougars successfully capitalized on offense, they played just as well; if not better, on defense. Strong defense from #33 BJ Weaver and the other Cougars, along with impressive rebounding allowed All Saints to capture the 1st period 17-8.

The Cougars continued their domination of the court in the second period as well. The Cougars pounded Vassar from everywhere on offense until the Vulcans were forced to call a timeout. The score was 30-14. The Vulcans rallied and managed to add ten points to their score, but still had quite a deficit between them and the Cougars. At the end of the first half the Cougars held the lead 34-24.

After a smashing Pom routine, from both current and alumni members of the All Saints Pompon squad, it was back to work for the Cougars.

Leaving nothing to chance, the lethal Cougar offense pounced on every chance they were given, and scored almost every drive in the third period. Thanks to a "high level of defense" as coach Mike Showalter later said; the Cougars were able to secure the game with the score at 52-36 at the end of the third.

Sticking to their high standard of defense, the Cougars protected their lead, and even managed a few breakaway shots off of rebounds. After 8 minutes of tight defense, the Cougars pocketed their 12th season win 69-54. The Cougars have two more games next week before district play begins. Coach Mike Showalter attributed the win to "moving the ball well", and also said that the "key was defense."
