For the second game in a row, Garber had the opportunity to upend a co-leader in the TVC championship hunt. And while they held the upper hand much of the way, Birch Run's inside pair of Brooke Sanders and Emily Jimenez proved too much as Birch Run pulled off an exciting 46-43 victory.

Both teams attacked each other with their strengths with the Panthers looking inside and the Dukes firing from the outside. The strategy worked well for Garber as Kelsea Zimmerman held the hot hand, scoring 7 points leading her teammates to a 13-11 lead by the end of the first quarter.

Birch Run heard the wake up call as they started the second quarter with a five point run pulling themselves to a 16-13 lead. But Garber wasn't rattled. They continued their tough defense eventually shutting down the Panther attack aided by Brooke Sanders picking up her third foul and having to leave the game. Meanwhile Garber showed incredible patience as they continued to work the perimeter with quick passes looking for the open shot. This helped keep Garber in the game as they held a 21-20 halftime lead.

The Panthers started the third quarter like a team the wanted a title. Garber matched their intensity keeping pace with them. But when senior center and captain, Brooke Sanders got called with her fourth foul half way through the quarter, Garber was able to pull back into the game. When senior guard Janelle Urban hit a three pointer with seconds to play giving Garber a 33-29 lead, it was clear Garber wasn't going away.

Injuries and foul trouble spelled doom for the upset minded Dukes in the final quarter. First senior point guard and scoring leader, Kelsea Zimmerman was hampered by shin splints taking her out of much of the second half. Then defensive specialist Katie Neering picked up her fourth foul opening the middle for Panthers to attack. But the biggest blow came halfway through the quarter when forward Haley Lane went down with a knee injury.

Birch Run took advantage of these situations by pulling Brooke Sanders back to the perimeter of the key while allowing Emily Jimenez to power her way to the basket. This also allowed Sanders to attack the basket as she netted 9 of her 17 points in the crucial fourth quarter. Having pulled ahead in the later stages of the quarter, Garber countered when Janelle Urban hit a two from the corner narrowing the game to 44-42.

Garber then got the defensive stop with 42 seconds to play and came down looking for the last shot. But when the jumper hit iron with 14 seconds, the Dukes were forced to foul Sanders. After calmly sinking both free throw giving the Panthers a 3 point lead, Garber came back working the ball first to one side then reversing to Kara Brewer. But unlike her memorable game tying three pointer at Caro, this shot was just off and Birch Run had escaped with a 46-43 win.

Garber was lead by Kelsea Zimmerman's 12 points with fellow guard Molly Braun scoring 10. Janelle Urban knocked down 9 points with Halley Lane netting 7.

Brooke Sanders led all scorers with 17 points with Emily Jimenez adding 12.
