For the last time this season the All Saints Cougars got to defend their home court in an action-packed game of basketball; and for the six seniors on the team it was their final home game playing for the Cougars. Fortunately for those seniors they can rest easy, and remember that their last home game was a definite success.

Though the Reese Rockets struck the first blow, the Cougars put everything they had into this game. Using their trademark defense, and their versatile offense the Cougars quickly picked up momentum early in the first period. The Cougars quickly tacked 15 points onto their score, and thanks to tough defense from #33 BJ Weaver, and #20 Adam Pijaszek the Cougars managed to keep the Rockets in check. One period was over. The score stood at 15-10 favoring All Saints.

Early in the second period senior #34 Mario Walker added considerable numbers to the Cougars total with help from the rest of All Saints' starters. Well-practiced offensive strategies helped the Cougars to maintain their lead despite a few untimely 3-pointers from Reese's offense. Still, at the end of the first half the score was a little too close for comfort at 27-23.

The endurance the Cougars normally show in the second half was certainly present in this game, and then some. The Cougars undermined nearly every tactic the Rockets tried, and on the opposite end of the court the Cougars continued their domination on offense. Offensive surges from #34 Walker (who ended with 28 points for the night), and #3 Aaron Janer (who scored 14 points for All Saints) allowed the Cougars to rack up a massive lead by the time the third period expired. Heading into the final period the score stood at 48-33.

In the fourth period, the Cougars proved to everyone that they were ready for the upcoming districts. The juggernaut Cougars left nothing to chance and continued to add to their huge lead. Apart from miraculous 3-pointers shot from well outside the impenetrable wall of Cougar defense, the Rockets weren't able to do much of anything for the final period. The Cougars expert tactics at maintaining possession of the ball allowed them to work wonders on offense, while at the same time stalling as time ticked away. After four periods of play, the Cougars claimed their final home victory 70-58.

When asked how his team performed in this game, All Saints head coach Mike Showalter had only one thing to say "We definitely were the better team out there tonight!" The Cougars will play their final game in the regular season this Thursday on the road versus Bad Axe.

After that the Cougars are off to districts next week. When asked if his team was psyched for districts, Coach Showalter quickly responded "We're ready - we're playing our best basketball right now."
