With first place hanging in the balance, Frankenmuth was not about to take Millington for granted. Millington was not about to give in to the favored Eagles either. As a result, the game was a lot closer than Frankenmuth would like.

The game started out evenly matched as both teams hung close to each other for the first half of the first quarter. Then the Eagles started putting more pressure on the ball forcing Millington to take long shots. While still struggling with their own shooting touch, Frankenmuth was still able to build a 12-8 lead.

In the second quarter, Frankenmuth switched to man to man defense. This helped limited the Cardinal shots especially with extra pressure and attention being applied to Cardinal scoring machine, Kayla Doshier. While the defensive end was limiting Millington to 7 points, on offense, quick passes led to open shots underneath. Utilizing forwards Jenny McCain and Kelsey Ritter, the Eagles built a 25-15 halftime lead.

But Millington was not about to go quietly in the night. They came out in the second half with renewed life. Being more aggressive, the Cardinals were able to narrow the margin early. But the Eagles regrouped attacking the basket from the outside thus opening up passing lanes for good shots. This helped hold Millington from tying the game and the Eagles held a 32-25 lead going into the fourth quarter.

With the outcome still in doubt, Millington continued to attack the basket while limiting the Eagles from reaching the basket for short jumpers. But the Eagles proved to be too tough as they played to a point stalemate in the fourth with Frankenmuth coming away with a 48-40 victory.

Frankenmuth was led by Jerry McCain with 13 points while Kelsey Ritter scored 11 and Sam Cormier chipped in 9.

Millington was led by Kayla Doshier's hard earned 17 points while Frahm and Lawe scored 9 and 7 respectively.
