Right from the opening tip-off; which #34 Mario Walker won handily, the Cougars had this one in the bag. For the first half of the game, the Cougar starters pounded the Bulldogs of Owendale-Gagetown with everything they had. Throughout the second half, the younger members of the Cougar team succeeded in continuing All Saints domination on the court.

As soon as the ball was in Cougar hands it was put to good use. The Cougars struck first from the free-throw line, then quickly added a basket to their score to draw first blood 3-0. The lessons learned from the hard-fought games that filled the Cougars regular season were clearly evident in the Cougars game play, and it wasn't long before the Bulldogs called a timeout - #20 Adam Pijaszek (Cougar high scorer with 28 total points!) had just added a 3-pointer to put the Cougars up 7-1. Tough defense, and a merciless offense gave the Cougars a 20-9 lead at the end of one period of play.

The Cougars lethal offensive tactics continued into the second period. Smart plays from #34 Mario Walker, mixed in with a few more of Pijaszek's killer 3-pointers, all but won the game by the end of the first half. Though the Cougars defense seemed a little shaky (The ASC defenders yielded 13 points to the Bulldogs mostly on fouls), the Cougars offense had put the game out of Owendale-Gag town's reach with the score at 48-22.

Taking no chances, All Saints head coach Mike Show alter kept the Cougars big guns out for the beginning of the third period. After about 4 minutes however, the Cougars had the score at 56-26. At this point Show alter hit the Bulldogs with the rest of All Saints versatile roster. By the end of the third period, the Cougars had added considerable numbers to their already huge score. With only one period left in the game, the score stood at 66-31 favoring All Saints.

Some notable shots were made by the Cougars in the early moments of the fourth period. #32 Brad Snick added a basket and a free throw point to the Cougars total to hit the 70 point mark. Only seconds later #22 Drew Bauer sunk a 3-pointer for All Saints. The Cougars added 5 more points to their score before time expired to claim their first district victory of the season 79-39.

When asked his feelings concerning about having gotten the chance to play every member of his team, Coach Show alter says "it's nice to see everyone playing out there, we've got a lot of potential and I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do next year." As incredulous as it may seem, top scorer #20 Adam Pijaszek says of the Cougars: "I think we could've played better", "less fouling for sure." Hopefully the Cougars can get some of the kinks out of their game before Wednesday when they take on the Port Hope Blue stars in round two of the District playoffs.
