Now is the time to join together in force and let our voices be heard in favor of the $2.4 billion new clean coal plant at Karn/Weadock.

On April 14th and 15th, the public input portion of the environmental permit hearing is scheduled at Bay Valley Resort, 2470 Old Bridge Road, Bay City. April 14th, the public hearing will be held at 7:00 p.m. Additional public hearings will be held April 15th starting at 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. and again at 7:00 p.m.

Don't be shy about walking up to the microphone and letting the DEQ panel know how important this project is for our future energy needs. This is electricity that can be relied upon twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. When you arrive you will have to fill out a card indicating you want to let your comments be heard by the DEQ panel for the record.

1. Let them know that this project means 1,800 construction jobs for eight (8) years with 80 permanent employees when construction is finished.

2. Let them know that this will stimulate the economy in Bay County.

3. Let them know that this is an investment of over $2 billion.

4. Let them know that coal is abundant and affordable.

5. Let them know we have coal right here in the United States that will last 300 years and we won't have to depend on any other country for our source supply.

6. Let them know that the New Generation Clean Pulverized Coal Plant will be one of the cleanest coal plants in the world utilizing the most advanced technologies that will ensure the health and welfare of the people while keeping the environment clean.

7. Let them know that Consumers Energy Karn/Weadock has been a good neighbor for over sixty years and by far the highest taxpayer in Bay County and that local property taxes will increase from $11 million per year to more than $23 million per year.

8. Let them know that Consumers Energy Karn/Weadock Plant has been producing energy in Bay County since 1940 and meeting all requirements and permits necessary.

9. Let them know that we are proud and thankful for Consumers Energy Karn/Weadock Plant located in Bay County through all these years and are looking forward to a lasting community relationship for many more years to come.

Investments in Michigan are needed now! Energy that can be counted on 24/7 is needed now! Jobs in Michigan are needed now!

The battle is on and our numbers will be seen and our voices will be heard. Please let me know if you will join us at Bay Valley Resort by calling me at (989) 893-4567.

I believe the best reason for encouragement is that it will help to fill the gap as we turn to alternate energy. Alternate energy producers are just now on the horizon of practicability. There will be years of improving the reliability of these products. In the interim the Karn/Weadock project should be welcomed because there may be important information gleaned from these projects that would make "clean coal" a real possibility in our energy future.

AIR QUALITY AND WATER QUALITY HAS TOO LONG SUFFERED FROM INADEQUATE REGULATION IN THIS STATE. CONSUMERS HAS NOT BEEN GOOD STEWARD OF EITHER . PROVE THIS IS GOING TO BE DIFFERENT SITUATION .. WITH MAJOR MANUFACTURING MOVING AWAY FROM MICHIGAN WHAT REASON DO WE HAVE TO INCREASE POWER GENERATION ??? MICHIGANS AIR QUALITY LAWS ARE LOWEST IN THE NATION AND WE ARE ATTRACTIVE TO COAL PRODUCERS BECAUSE OF LAX REGULATION. WHY ELSE BUILD HERE AND SELL TO OTHER STATES?? WE ARE CHEAP AND EASY .. I SAY ENOUGH ..SINCERELY
Agree? or Disagree?
