Kroger and Firehouse Car Wash was the featured Girls Major softball game at EHLL this week. Lots of base running was the story as both teams put up big numbers. In the end, it was the Car Wash that won, 14-11.

Kroger has some control issues as four batters reached base on walks while two here hit by a pitch. But it was the defense that saved the inning as the Car Washers were tagged out at the plate twice but not before scoring 3 runs. Kroger responded with a run of their own to make the score 3-1 after one.

Early season pitching woes continued for Kroger as seven girls walked bringing in all six runs putting Firehouse up 9-1. Kroger struck back in the bottom of the inning on singles by Kennedy Willet, Kennedy Clyde and Hannah Katt as the Grocers scored four times making it 9-5.

Kroger held Firehouse to two runs in the third although still struggling to find the strike zone consistently. Kroger then put on their hitting shoes as Mercedes Himebaugh, Maya Olgac, Kennedy Willet and Kennedy Clyde all singled pushing two runs across of their own making it 11-7 after three innings.

Firehouse added three more runs on walks to increase their lead. Jessica Sebastian and Darian Willet each single to help score a run for Kroger narrowing Firehouse?s lead to 14-8.

Kroger gave themselves a chance to comeback by holding Firehouse scoreless in the fifth. Singles by Blair Miller and Keygen Gallonger helped score three runs but it would not be enough as the Car Wash held on for a 14-11 win. And while they may have lost the game, each player for Kroger has at least one hit.
