Playoffs can be a cruel ending to a good season as Garber found out Tuesday night. Facing a mirror image of themselves in Clio, the two teams battled it out for six innings. But a one out homer in the top of the seventh inning was enough to power Clio past Garber and into the next district game.
Garber took the lead in the second inning. Caitlyn Keuvelaar drew a lead off walk to get things started. Katie Neering singled then walks to Kara Brewer and Janelle Urban brought Garber's lone run of the game home making it 1-0.
Clio tied the game in the top of the fourth inning. Kayla Mitchell doubled to lead of the inning. Stevie Cuttitta then singled her home knotting the score 1-1.
Clio threatened to take the lead in the fifth inning when they put runners on second and third with one out. Then Tam Weber hit to a drawn in infield. Shortstop Rachel Bowker gunned to Caitlyn Keuvelaar at home nailing Katie Moore who tried to run over Keuvelaar without success.
But in the seventh, Jessica Keeler hit a home run to left field putting Clio up 2-1. Then Cuttitta struck out the side ending Garber's title hopes and moving Clio on.
Kara Brewer went the distance for Garber giving up 2 runs on 8 hits striking out 9.
Stevie Cuttitta pitched all seven innings for Clio giving up 1 run on three hits while striking out 9.
