All Saints and North Huron. The last time these two competitive teams met it was on the basketball court, and, just like their baseball team, the North Huron Warriors were undefeated. But just like last time, the Cougars were ready for them.

Things got off on a good start for the Cougars in the first inning. Only one Warrior made it on base while the other three went down swinging to All Saints Pitcher Adam Pijaszek #6. The Cougars then went on the attack with one goal in mind: strike early against the team that had yet to know defeat.

After watching lead batter #1 Josh Sutton get thrown out at first, Pijaszek hit a single and beat out the tag at first. Aaron Janer #3 joined Pijaszek on the bases when he was hit by a pitch.

All Saints catcher Kevin Gwizdala #7 then took his turn at bat. Knowing what he had to do, he smacked the ball deep into right field for a single which drove in Pijaszek's courtesy runner BJ Weaver #8 putting All Saints up 1-0. Justin Gielda #4 then hit a single of his own that allowed Janer to cross home plate for a second All Saints score.

Pijaszek had some trouble in the top of the second inning. After giving up a hit to Isler #13, Pijaszek balked and gave Isler a free walk to second base. But after a quick pep talk with Kevin Gwizdala, Pisazek was all business on the mound, striking out the next three Warriors he faced.

All Saints added another point to their lead in the bottom of the second inning. With Drew Bauer #12 on second, and Sutton on first, Pijaszek hit one deep into right field where Fischer #9 committed an error which allowed All Saints to load the bases - perfect conditions for All Saints next batter, Aaron Janer. Janer hit a single which drove in Bauer, but unfortunately Sutton was tagged out by North Huron's catcher at home.

The Cougars put the hammer down in the bottom of the third. With Justin Gielda on first, Justin Villano #21 hit a single, and another costly Warrior error occurred, allowing Villano to make it all the way to third base and giving Gielda the opportunity to steal home. Another North Huron mistake occurred while Kevin Jakubczak #14 was at bat which gave Villano ample time to steal home to put the Cougars up 5-0.

The Cougars scored again in the bottom of the fourth. On third base after hitting a triple, Aaron Janer was driven home off a single from Thomas Villano #18 that was mishandled in the outfield. North Huron then switched pitchers and ended the inning shortly after.

The Warriors needed to score desperately in the fifth inning. But Adam Pijaszek had other plans for the three Warrior batters he faced. Throwing only one ball out of ten pitches, Pijaszek sent all three Warriors back to their dugout with nothing. All Saints scored their final run in the bottom of the fifth inning when Josh Sutton slid safely home off a single from Pijaszek.

North Huron finally broke the shutout in the top of the sixth inning. But another Pijaszek strikeout and two tags at first disposed of the Warriors. The Cougars won decisively 7-1 to move on to the Regional championship game against Ubly.
