The action was exciting at the Southwest Little League fields Thursday night. Mr. Hot Dog built a 10-3 lead heading into the sixth inning. Then Bosco erupted for six runs and had the bases loaded poised to complete the comeback. But the Doggers escaped with a force out at second base to preserve a nail bitter 10 to 9.

Mr. Hot Dog jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. Max singled to set the table for Seth who smashed a two run homer. After Tom was hit by a pitch, Andrew doubled him home for a 3-0 lead.

The Doggers added another run in the second. With two outs, Nate singled. He then moved to second when Max drew a full count walk. Seth drove him home with a single raising their lead to 4-0.

The third inning saw the Doggers knocking on the door again. Devon led off with a double and scored on Hayden's single. Following a Logan single, Nate doubled Hayden home putting the Doggers up 6-0.

Bosco came alive in the fourth inning. Clay doubled to get things started. After Brandon singled, Ryan smoked a one strike pitch for a home run narrow the score to 6-3.

The Doggers matched these three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Seth led off with his second homer of the day. Devon reached base on a fielder's choice and scored on Andrew's double. Hayden singled Andrew home and the lead was back to six, 9-3.

Bosco threatened in the fifth when Clay singled and Brandon doubled putting Runners on second and third. A pop-up to short ended the inning keeping the score at 9-3.

Mr. Hot Dog added a crucial insurance run in their half of the fifth. Following a walk to Seth, Tom moved him on with a single and later scored on a fielder's choice.

Then came the sixth inning. Donning a rally cry, Bosco paraded twelve batters to the plate. Phil started things off with a single. After a strike out, a single by Adam and a fielder's choice, the rally looked bleak. Then Nick worked a walk.

Singles by Mitch, Clay, Ryan and Phil had pushed six runs across the plate narrowing the score to 10-9. A walk loaded the bases with two out when a grounder to second ended it all as the Doggers got the force at second to close out the rally with a 10-9 win.

It was a thrilling end as well as an impressive offensive output by both teams. Together they put up 19 runs while generating 27 hits which made for an exciting game.
