The Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center has announced a free Effective Customer Service & Business Communications seminar at Delta College, University Center, Michigan from 6 to 8:30 p.m. August 4, 2009.

Even though this is the communications age, too many communications leave the recipient making assumptions that lead to poor productivity, low morale, and worse.

Be clear, concise, and consistent in your message to internal and external customers of your business through proper and effective use of meetings, letters, memos, faxes, e-mails plus other activities and documents in communicating your business.

There will also be a free Starting a Business seminar at Michigan Works! in Standish on August 6, 2009 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. .

The seminar is for those who would like to start a small business or for those who would like to become acquainted with community and business resources.

Topics include what it takes to start a business, where to go for information and assistance, the business plan and why you need one, licenses and permits, funding and the myth of "free money," as well as resources available to help set up your business.

For more information about MI-SBTDC, resources, other seminars, or to register for this free seminar online, go to MISBTDC Training Website or call (989) 686-9597. Pre-registration is required.

Seminar sponsors are Delta College and the Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center.

The MI-SBTDC is a partner program of the U.S. Small Business Administration and provides confidential, no-cost business counseling services, training and research for Michigan's new business ventures, existing small businesses, expanding businesses, new technology companies, and innovators.

Funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and is not an endorsement of any products, opinions, or services.

All SBA funded programs or co-sponsored programs are extended to the public on a non-discriminatory basis. Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made, if requested at least two weeks in advance by calling (989) 686-9597.

Marlo,

Thank you for sharing these with those that cannot necessarily afford schooling. It is not easy to find freebies that can expand our horizons anymore. We appreciate your time in sharing with the public
