Host Northeast Little League will have to consider replacing home plate after all the runs scored in the Minor Division of Little League District action. Sixty runs were scored in the first four games. Some of this run production was attributed to managers restricting their pitchers to twenty pitches thus allowing them to use the pitchers the following day. The result was plenty of action.

Northwest Little League set the tone in the opening round. They pounded out 16 runs to defeat Saginaw North 16-3. NELL followed suit as they prevailed 11-1 sending Essexville-Hampton Little League to the losers' bracket.

Southwest Little League continued the high scoring trend in the second round. The Southwesterners shut out Harbor Beach on their way to a 16-0 win. Meanwhile, Northwest received 5 innings of one hit ball from Brandon as they defeated Cass City 7-2.

Southend and Northeast locked up in a high scoring affair. Plenty of walks with a few hits sprinkled in resulted in a 24-16 Northeast win. Bad Axe and Pigeon finished off the first round. Pigeon took an early lead but Bad Axe came back to capture an 8-5 win.

The second round saw Northwest and Southwest start things off Saturday morning. While Hunter recorded a two run homer for Northwest, it was a solid hitting attack that helped Southwest pull out a tight 4-3 win. In the noon game, Bad Axe exploded for 20 runs as they defeated Northeast 20-6. This sets up a Monday match up of undefeated teams as Southwest meets Bad Axe at 4:30 pm.

In the losers, bracket, Harbor Beach rebounded from their earlier defeat as they downed Essexville-Hampton 13-3. Likewise, Saginaw North ended the hopes of Pigeon with a 7-1 victory.

Harbor Beach continued their hitting assault when they played Cass City. The Beach men advanced to the next round with a 17-2 win and a Sunday date with Northeast. Meanwhile, Saginaw North secured a Sunday game by defeating SELL 11-1.

Play continues this week with the undefeated birth slated for Monday at 4:30 pm and the one loss birth scheduled for Tuesday at 6:00 pm. Play continues Wednesday as the winners from Saginaw South join the teams from Northeast to conclude the Districts at Northeast. Come join the fun and cheer on the little leaguers.
