Northwest Little League was the host of this year's northern half of the District 14 Little League tournament. Seven teams played for the right to send two teams to the semi-finals at Saginaw North Little League. The competition was spirited with Southend Little League emerging as the undefeated team with Saginaw North advancing with one loss.

Play started with Vassar needing 10 innings to defeat Caro 3-2. Next, SELL flexed their muscles early and often as Jake homered twice, one being a grand slam powering the Southenders past Saginaw North 11-2. In the final first round game, timely hits told the story. USA got the hits and Northeast Little League didn't as USA came away with a 7-4 victory.

In the second round, NWLL having drowned a bye in the first round took on Vassar. Homers by Tyler H and Nathan J got things rolling for Northwest. Then Tyler S finished Vassar off in the sixth inning with a grand slam moving NW into the third round. Meanwhile SELL pounded USA 15-1. The scoring was highlighted by Jake's third homer of the tournament. With the win, SELL secured a date versus NWLL in the next round.

After both teams displayed explosive offenses in their opening games, pitching dominated this crucial contest. Thanks in part to a Lenny homer, SE pulled out the win 2-1 sending NW to the losers' bracket. NW's lone run was scored by a Luke round tripper. With the win, South End advanced to Saginaw North for the semi-finals.

In the losers' bracket, Saginaw North and Northeast Little League locked into a good battle. Both teams hoping to stay alive, SN pulled out a 4-3 win thus advancing to the next round to play Vassar.

In the second round, SN continued their quest by beating Vassar in a hard fought game, 5-2. In the other game, Caro took on cross-thumb rival USA in a well played game. USA kept their quest to stay in the tournament by downing Caro, 6-4.

SN was determined to prove their opening game loss to SELL was not reflective of their team. They unleashed their offense on USA winning 12-0 to set up a decisive game against NW. The winner would advance to Saginaw North as the district field would be reduced to four.

Playing their final game on home turf, NW received a very fine pitching performance by Tyler. He struck out 10 batters before the pitch count ended his day. However Jon of Saginaw North kept NW in check as SN gutted out a 2-1 victory and a chance to return home to continue play for the district title.
