With two wins and two losses under their belts, the All Saints Cougars were looking to take their record into the positives Friday evening; and after an impressive first quarter, it looked like they might do just that.

Starting out on offense, the Cougars managed to fight their way to the 42 yard line where the Vulcans eventually took over on downs. But the Cougars weren't done on offense yet. On the second play of the Vulcans drive the Cougars recovered a Vulcan fumble. This time the Cougars would succeed in moving the ball to the 26 yard line before, once again, turning the ball over on downs.

Once again the Cougar defenders stubbornly refused to let the Vulcans gain any yardage. The Cougars quickly recovered the ball on downs and resumed their drive towards the goal line. This time they got within 7 yards of scoring before disaster struck. All Saints' quarterback Drew Janer #12 passed the ball to the end zone, and, as Cougar fans watched in terror, the ball was intercepted by a Vulcan defender. That climactic play brought about the end of the first quarter's action.

Heading into the second quarter the game remained scoreless until only seven minutes remained. Vassar running-back Keif Vickers #25 broke the stalemate and blasted through the tired Cougar defense to put his team on the board 6-0.

The Vulcans capitalized on their momentum and shut down the Cougars offense with ease and were back on offense before All Saints knew what was happening. After two huge gains from their running backs, the Vulcans were within 8 yards of another touchdown. The Cougars tried desperately to hold back the Vulcans, but it would've taken a freight train to stop them. Vassar tacked another 6 points unto their score and a two-point-conversion to end the half 14-0.

The second half was a nightmare for All Saints. Interceptions, penalties, bad kick returns, and flags all over the place resulted in three more touchdowns and another two-point-conversion for Vassar. The Cougars managed to score two touchdowns and their PAT's but that hardly made a dent in the Vulcans lead.

At the end of the day, the Cougars headed back to their bus with a 40-14 loss weighing on their minds. A frustrated Head Coach Eric Gust said after the nightmarish game, "you have your ups and downs, and we're gonna have to face this again next week." Next week the Cougars will again hit the road and travel to Bad Axe where they will have they hands full against the Hatchets.
