The Pinconning versus John Glenn game is always known for tough hitting. This year's version featured one of the stronger Spartan teams in recent memory. The result was a defensive battle with a lone first quarter touchdown scored by Pinconning being the game winner as the Spartans out slugged John Glenn 7-3.

After neither team was able to move the ball in their first possession, Pinconning started on their own 10 yard line. From there, the Spartans went on their double wing attack. A Tyler Espitia 18 yard run couple with a Glenn personal foul put the Spartans in Bobcat territory.

The drive appeared to stall on the Glenn 14 when on fourth and nine; QB Casey Pashak hit Lucas Foco on a slant pass for a Spartan touchdown. With the extra point kick, Pinconning held a 7-0 lead.

Glenn responded after starting with good field position on their own 40. They pounded away in six to eight yard chunks to move the ball to the Pinconning 26 before an interception ended that drive.

The second quarter saw the Bobcats get on the scoreboard. Starting on Pinconning's 40, tailback Michael Dombrowski peeled of a 25 yard run putting the Bobcats on the Spartans' 15 yard line. But the Pinconning defense stiffened and John Glenn had to settle for a Brandon Flues 36 yard field goal narrowing the margin to 7-3.

Neither team threatened to score in the third period as they pounded away at each other with their physical running attacks.

In the fourth quarter, Pinconning looked to put the game on ice. Behind the running of Tyler Espitia, the Spartans moved the ball to the Glenn 15 before Espitia burst through the line and into the end zone only to have a holding penalty erase the play.

Glenn made on last effort at a comeback. Starting on their 35, QB Jordan Schumann hooked up with Jacob Carter for 19 yards and a first down. Then on fourth and 17, Schumann found Robert Rambo for 18 yards and the Bobcat faithful found new life on the Pinconning 21. But this was to be the Spartans year as they prevented Glenn from getting any closer to the end zone for a 7-3 Pinconning victory.

The Spartan rushing attack was led by Tyler Espitia. The senior tailback ran for 87 hard fought yards on 17 carries. Lucas Foco added 33 yards on 12 carries.

Ryan LaFlure led John Glenn with 36 yards rushing with Michael Dombrowski adding 31 and Brandon Wrzesinski with 28.
