It was expected to be a hard fought, tight battle as Garber traveled to Caro. What transpired nobody predicted as the visiting Dukes completely manhandled Caro on both sides of the ball coming away with a 35-0 win.

"Caro is a good football team," noted a happy Coach Schwartz moments after the game ended. "We just caught them on a night."

And catch them they did as Garber scored on all five possessions in the first half.

After the Garber defense stopped Caro on their opening possession, the Duke offense went to work. Running tailback Dominic Trogan, Garber started moving the ball down field. Then Lee Madziar hit Mike Schroeder on a crossing pattern just over the midfield stripe. The tall receiver, thanks to a nice down field block ran the ball to the Caro 10 yard line. Moments later Trogan was scoring one of his four touchdowns on the night putting Garber on top 7-0.

After getting stuffed twice on the run, Caro looked to move the ball through the air. But backside pressure from Travis Britko and in the face pressure from Chris Rochow allowed Todd Walraven to intercept the pass and put Garber in great field position.

Garber went right at Caro again as Madziar hooked up with Todd Walraven who ran it down to the Caro 10 yard line. From there, Trogan took the pitch and bolted 9 yards for Garber's second score of the first quarter. Jordan McCann's PAT made it 14-0.

Further miscues hurt Caro in the second quarter. Unable to move the ball, Caro set up to punt. The snap went over the punter's head deep in Caro territory. Carter Harris initially put the heat on the punter but Brandon Williams made the big tackle for a major loss and a Garber first down.

On Garber's first play, Madziar through a perfect over the shoulder pass to Schroeder. The six foot five senior was heavily covered but hauled the pass in for another Duke touchdown and a 21-0 lead. Caro desperate for some momentum to get back into the game, used a fake punt to get a first down and generate some life. This play gave them a spark that was quickly extinguished. Throwing deep down their sideline, Steve Yax intercepted the ball and headed back up field. The senior defensive back smelled pay dirt as he picked up blockers as he crossed the field and looked toward the end zone. Just as the wall of blockers got in place, he was caught from behind giving Garber great field position.

Dominic Trogan made this a quick possession. Taking a pitch to the right side, he cut back up field and shedding a tackler, raced 28 yards for a touchdown. This put Garber up 28-0. Garber got the ball back with over 6:30 left in the first half. Looking to eat up the clock, the Dukes turned to feeding doses of Trogan and fullback David Laskowski. In the end, it was Trogan scoring on a 3 yard run to finish off the first half scoring with Garber leading 35-0.

The second half started out much the same. Garber took the kickoff and immediately began marching down field. Two big penalties stalled the Duke drive and Caro had their first stop of the night. The Tigers, aided by a facemask penalty got their offense moving. Driving toward the goal line, Todd Walraven came up with his second interception of the night and Caro's hopes of getting on the scoreboard were soon dashed.

Dominic Trogan led all rushers with 139 yards on 18 carries while Madziar was 5 for 7 in the air for 100 yards. Even more impressive was the Duke defense. As a unit, they held Caro to 94 yards while forcing 4 turnovers. Nick Dion had 10 tackles to lead the Duke defense.
