Any concerns of a homecoming letdown quickly evaporated as Garber exploded to a 28-0 first quarter lead then doubled that over the next three quarters en route to 56-0 win over Bridgeport . With the victory, Garber finishes the TVC East with a perfect 6-0 record to capture the TVC Championship outright. Next up is the final regular season game against cross town rival John Glenn.

Garber started the game by forcing a Bridgeport punt after the Bearcats first three plays. The Dukes began their first drive at their 23 in typical fashion. Dominic Trogan burst for 15 yards on the first play. This was soon followed David Laskowski powering his way over several Bearcats for 18 yards. Trogan finished off the drive by taking the pitch around left end 33 yards for a touchdown. With Jordan McCann's kick, Garber was up 7-0 at the 7:56 mark.

Thirty four seconds later, the Dukes were back on the board. On the following kickoff, Mike Schroeder may a nice ankle tackle to put Bridgeport on their 14. A fumble and two incomplete passes later and Bridgeport was forced to punt. Heavy pressure resulted in a short punt. Alertly, return specialist Travis Britko picked up the bouncing punt and willed himself into the end zone by breaking several tackles putting Garber up 14-0.

Bridgeport found more punt problems on their next possession. This time it was David Laskowski who blocked the punt giving Garber excellent field position on the Duke 47. Soon Trogan busted a 17 yard gain to the Bearcat 31. Laskowski finished off the drive with a 7 yard run and the Dukes were ahead 21-0 still in the first quarter.

Bridgeport looked to get back into the game by opening up their next position with a bomb down the right side. Travis Britko picked this pass off and Garber was back in business at the Garber 35. Then Dom Trogan broke off a 57 yard run only to be caught on the Bridgeport 8. Moments later, Lee Madziar literally walked in the end zone on a quarterback sneak as the offensive line drove the Bearcats back into the end zone making it 28-0 in the first quarter.

Bridgeport got some life in the second quarter. After stopping Garber on fourth and one at midfield, the Bearcats got their first first down of the evening. But a streaking tackle by Nick Dion stopped the drive forcing a punt. A Duke fumble gave Bridgeport new life at Garber's 33. Hoping to catch them down, Bridgeport looked to make a quick strike by going for it all down the left sideline. But Travis Britko was there to make his second interception of the game giving Garber the ball back on their 8 yard line.

Anthony Wregglesworth broke off left tackle racing 40 yards to get Garber back on track. Aided by a pass interference penalty, the Dukes drove to the 19 yard line. There quarterback Lee Madziar hit tight end Mike Schroeder over the middle for a fine fingertip catch and a Garber touchdown. On the extra point, the snap was high forcing holder Travis Britko to run to his right. Spotting David Laskowski in the end zone, Britko passed for a 2 point conversion and a 36-0 lead.

Determined to score before halftime, the Bearcats mounted a drive. With six seconds to play, Demarcus Baldwin threw to a receiver over the middle at the goal line. David Laskowski stepped in front of the pass and took it 97 yards to the house giving Garber a 42-0 halftime lead.

The second half began with a running play clock. It also allowed Garber to rest their starters and allowed the second string some well earned playing time. And they made good use of the time by racking up a touchdown in each of the two quarters while holding a determined Bridgeport team out of the end zone.

In the third quarter, Garber got another break via the punt. This time it was the punting unit that made the play. After Schroeder boomed a punt, the returner inadvertently touched the ball. Garber jumped on it for excellent field position at the Bearcat 28. Anthony Wregglesworth finished off a nice drive with a two yard touchdown run making it 49-0.

Garber got more solid field position in the fourth quarter. Stopping Bridgeport on downs at the Bearcat 30, Garber drove the final 30 yards with Chris Guinn finishing it off with a 15 yard touchdown run and a 56-0 Garber victory.

Garber was led on the ground by Dominic Trogan's 183 yards on only 15 carries. Anthony Wregglesworth added 47 yards on 5 carries and David Laskowski had 32 yards on 5 carries. All totaled, Garber had 338 yards in rushing.

The evening was capped off by the traditional homecoming fireworks to put a cap on the TVC Championship. But amid all the celebration, thoughts of next weeks opponent, John Glenn, were in the back of Coach Schwartz's mind. "John Glenn is a big and physical team," commented Schwartz. "They play in a physical conference. It will be a tough game."

But for tonight, it was time for Schwartz and his players to enjoy the fruits of their efforts and a well deserved victory.
