If the cross town rivalry wasn't enough motivation, the chance for John Glenn to make their final argument that they belong in the playoffs was. Judging by John Glenn's performance against TVC East Champion Garber, they made their case. The Bobcats can only hope their 29-0 pounding of the Dukes was convincing to their jurors.

The game almost started in disaster for Glenn when they fumbled on the opening kickoff but recovered it. Glenn then moved down field before suffering their second fumble on a rainy field. Garber's David Laskowski jumped on the fumble giving Garber early momentum. Garber opened with a reverse and continued moving the ball down field. On fourth down at Glenn's 35, Lee Madziar hit Travis Britko for a first down on the Bobcat 18. But Glenn stiffened and two incomplete passes later they had stopped the Duke attack.

Unable to move the ball, Garber was soon back in business at midfield. Mixing run and pass, the Dukes drove right back to the Bobcat 19 to begin the second quarter. But a second defensive stand kept Garber out of the end zone and Glenn took back over at their 14. Then John Glenn took a gamble that changed the course of the game.

Facing a fourth and two on their 22, Glenn decided to go for the first down. This decision would either ignite his team or put Garber back in scoring position. The Bobcat offense responded by powering for a first down. Moments later lightning struck. Sophomore fullback Devon McCulloh went around right end, breaking tackles and out raced the Garber secondary for a 63 yard touchdown run and a 7-0 lead.

A bobbled kickoff and a fumble later and Glenn had possession on the Duke 37. Senior workhorse Ryan LaFlure wasted little time as he broke loose for a 37 yard dash to paydirt and Glenn had struck again. The good fortunes continued on the extra point when a rolling snap was picked up by holder Jordan Schumann. The scampered to his left and faking a pass into the end zone slipped in for a two point conversion and a 15-0 lead.

The two quick scores put a charge into the Bobcat defense as they completely shut down the Duke attack the rest of the quarter leading into halftime. The first half was even more costly to Garber than what showed on the scoreboard. Entering the game, the Dukes had lost another defensive key player in nose guard Carter Harris to a shoulder separation.

At halftime, Garber lost David Laskowski to what appeared to be a concussion. Laskowski is not only the blocking full back for Dominic Trogan; he was also responsible for three turnovers in the first half with two fumble recoveries and an interception. To make matters worse, star running back, Dominic Trogan suffered a hand injury. He gave it a go in the third quarter but soon had to leave the game.

The third quarter saw Glenn complete stop Garber from getting anything going. After going three and out, Glenn appeared to be on their way again. LaFlure broke another long run and appeared destined for the end zone when Lee Madziar made a touchdown saving tackle. Garber's defense responded to their captain's effort holding Glenn out of the end zone. But the offense couldn't get going and only a Schroeder booming punt saved Garber from giving Glenn good field position.

But this clearly was John Glenn's night. The Bobcat offense pounded away at Garber moving the ball down field. Aided by a Jordan Schumann around right end that brought the Bobcats to the Duke 27, Glenn continued to eat up clock and yardage. When Brandon Wrzesinski punched through the Duke defense for a one yard touchdown, the Bobcats were in command, 22-0.

Garber responded offensively with a nice drive. Penetrating deep into Bobcat territory, they looked to get on the scoreboard when a personal foul moved the Dukes back on fourth down. Madziar then hit Todd Walraven to the Glenn 25 but this was just short of the first down the Glenn took over.

Any thoughts of a Garber comeback were quickly dashed. Devon McCulloh broke off a second long touchdown run of 55 yards put the game out of reach giving John Glenn a 29-0 win. Devin McCulloh ran for 189 yards with running mate Ryan LaFlure adding 108 yards for the Bobcats. Garber was led by Lee Madziar who threw for 100 yards on 10 for 21 throwing.
