George and C.J. Sweetman are getting ready to start showing the model in the first of three Bay Harbor Pointe buildings.

Initial building has 18 units on three floors with AuGres, Charlevoix, Tawas and Mackinac models ranging from $174,900 to $299,000.

The seventh condominium development on the Saginaw River, and the first outside Bay City, is rising within sight of Saginaw Bay.

The Bay Harbor Pointe Condominium complex will allow dwellers just a short walk to their boats at Bay Harbor Marina. "Surround yourself with nature's beauty and tranquility," states the prospectus published by the developers.

The complex fronts on natural wetlands as well as the riverfront and continues the transition of shore property from old industrial uses to residential that has marked the past few years in Bay City.

The new development is located on marina property at the foot of Wilder Road in Bangor Township. It is not far from the Bay City Yacht Club and is across the river from the U.S. Coast Guard Station and Saginaw Bay Yacht Club.

This seventh waterfront condo project follows Breaker Cove, Jennison Place, Water Street Townhouses and Antrim Place. Another, Iron Bridge at Wheeler Landing, is now clearing land and a 30-40 unit complex is slated to get underway soon in the old Jennison steel warehouse by Bill Gregory and Paul Rowley.

The model of the 54-unit Bay Harbor Pointe Condominiums is nearly ready and should be open by mid-June, according to George Sweetman, construction manager for Reibel Development, owners of the marina, and his wife, C.J. Sweetman, Realtor with Award Properties, of Grand Rapids.

The first of three buildings, with 18 units, is up and completion awaits carpeting and good weather so garages can be finished, according to George Sweetman.

Prices range from $174,900 to $197,900 for the 1,195 square foot Au Gres model to $299,900 for the 1,931 square foot Mackinac model. Pre-constructionpricing is in effect through June 30 and move-in is projected in the summer.

"Bay Harbor Pointe Condominiums provide the luxury of waterfront living with beautiful natural surroundings and lifestyle convenience," says the development literature.

Award Properties specializes in condominium "neighborhoods" close to nature, including the sold out Marina Shores at Lake Cadillac, MeadowView at Cadillac, Pheasant Run at Norton Shores, near Muskegon, The Meadows and Timber Ridge atCaledonia, just south of Grand Rapids.
