Like the tuna with good taste that didn't "taste good," Charlie Weis is no longer welcome at Notre Dame.
By this time tomorrow (hopefully), the hammer of doom will fall on the coaching career of "Poor Charlie" Weis at Notre Dame.
Watching the Notre Dame - Stanford game Saturday night was more like attending a funeral wake than enjoying a college football game.
Oh sure . . . the game had its high points . . . but in the end, it was the same old 2009 story. Poor clock management, inadequate (atrocious) defense, a 6-6 horrific record . . . Poor Charlie . . .
"We're sorry for your loss," was muttered over and over by viewing alumni as they filed past the casket that has become the coaching career of Charlie Weis at Notre Dame.
"He died doing something he really enjoyed," added sobbing and dis-oriented die hard fans who were inconsolable following the season-ending loss to Stanford (45-38) that left the Irish floundering at 6-6 for the 2009 campaign.
"If only we could have tackled better for Charlie," said a disconsolate leprechaun, looking for anyone to share his grief.
In the end it is the head coach that had to take responsibility for the performance on the field. With Jimmy Clausen, Golden Tate and the rest, it should have turned out better for Poor Charlie.
But life and football don't always turn out as planned.
After the service was over, all that could be heard was the Brinks Armored trucks (full of cash) backing into the parking garage at the funeral parlor -- dumping the Poor Charlie's $18 million buyout cash into the still open casket.
I guess you can "Take it with You."
