Western was looking to even their conference record against an always talented Mt. Pleasant squad. And while they were able to dominate the inside game, Mt. Pleasant owned the three pointers and free throw line as the Oilers pulled out a 66-45 win.

The game ignited with each team exchanging long range jumpers. The Oilers continued their scoring as 6 foot 5 inch guard, Trey Ziegler directed the attack finding open teammates or draining his own jumpers. The Warrior defense stiffened taking away the easy shots. Then Caleb Boileau powered in two rebounds to keep the Warriors close, 10-8, at the end of the first quarter.

Mt. Pleasant opened things up in the second quarter by running a perimeter offense. Rapid ball movement opened up 3 pointer shots as Mt. Pleasant pulled out to a 19-10 lead. Western kept with their inside game as 6 foot 8 inch Brandon Havercamp tallied 6 points. But it was the Oiler's 5 3-pointers that controlled the quarter with Mt. Pleasant enjoying a 29-21 halftime lead.

The third quarter settled into each team's half court offense. While Western ran good plays, they struggled to get the shots to drop. On the defensive side, 6 foot 8 sophomore Matt Costello dominated the inside blocking several shots. But the Oilers have several sharp shooters as they continued to score from the outside to pull ahead 48-32 heading into the fourth quarter.

Mt. Pleasant stayed with their perimeter offense. But instead of launching long range shots, they went to a one on one attack driving to the basket. This was met with little success as the inside strength of Western provided plenty of blocks and defensive denials. While the Warrior defense held the Oilers to one point over the first four minutes, they could only score 8 points narrowing the Oilers lead to 9.

Mt. Pleasant enjoyed a double bonus situation over the final four minutes. This allowed them to spread out the Western defense eating up clock and picking up fouls as they drove the lane. Their free throw accuracy allowed the Oilers to expand their lead as they collected 20 points on the night from the free throw line to Western's 4 points. This advantage helped Mt. Pleasant post a 66-45 victory.

Trey Zeigler led the Oilers with 23 points while 3-point sharp shooter Josh Rathie added 21 with 4 3-pointers. Matthew Strickland added 11.

Western was led by a trio of player, senior Caleb Boileau, junior Aaron Tithof and sophomore Matt Costello, who all scored 11 points.
