Thursday night kicked off the first of two crossover games involving the Tri Valley Conference East versus West. Chesaning traveled to Essexville to challenge the Garber Lady Dukes. Two top teams in their respective conferences battled in a very physical contest with the Indians prevailing 42-35.

The first quarter was very physical as aggressive play and hard contact was the rule. This kept both teams from establishing any offensive rhythm as every movement to the basket was hotly contested. Two 3-point baskets by Kara Brewer helped Garber pull within one point to finish the quarter down 10-9.

Bodies continued to be pounded in the second quarter. This allowed Chesaning to shut down Garber's inside game as the Lady Dukes lone basket came on a Kara Brewer jumper. Chesaning didn't fair much better as they were only able to muster 8 points in part due to trips to the free throw line. This helped the Indians to build an 18-11 halftime lead.

Garber came out gunning to start the second half. Following Kara Brewer hitting both ends of a shooting foul, Garber's Katie Neering stole the ball with Ashton Morse finishing with a score. Then a Caitlyn Keuvelaar block shot was followed by a Molly Braun jumper and Garber was back in the game. The game tightened up as Garber pulled to within three, 27-24.

In the final quarter, Chesaning pulled ahead early by breaking the Garber press for easy baskets. Then they turned to running time off the clock as they ran a high court weave. The strategy almost backfired as Molly Braun twice stole the ball and scored on the resulting lay-up. Having built a seven point lead with under three minutes to play, the Indians spread the floor forcing Garber to foul to get the ball back.

Chesaning struggled from the charity stripe, only shooting 16 for 34 on the night compared to Garber's 9 for 14. But the five extra baskets proved to be the difference as Chesaning came away with a 42-37 victory.

Kara Brewer led Garber with 15 points as Molly Braun added 14, 12 of those points coming in the second half.

Chazsi Beckman paced Chesaning with 13 points while Sabrina Aguilar scored 11 and Caitlyn Catterfeld added 9.
