Western Girls Downed By Heritage, 54-36.

Both teams entered the game at the time of the season that they are looking to put it all together for a district run. What resulted was a challenging contest with Heritage coming away with more answers that Western. With a strong opening and closing quarter, Heritage pulled off a 54-36 win.

Heritage opened the contest with a strong first quarter. Riding the play of Natalie Vondette and Skye Cieszlak, Heritage pulled out to a 14-8 edge while keeping the Lady Warriors from getting any one player on track.

Play kept tight throughout the second quarter with neither team getting a decided advantage. Ball movement found open players but both teams struggled to get consistent shots to fall as the two teams battled. Heritage's Taylor Schwellenbach knocked down 4 of her 6 free throws to help Heritage go into the halftime locker room with a 24-16 lead.

Heritage kept the upper hand in the third quarter as their defense kept Western from getting on track. The tight defense held Western to only three baskets for the quarter. Meanwhile, Breana Trudell and Abbey Miller each scored twice to go along with Skye Cieszlak's 3 for 4 from the line to help Heritage add to their lead as Heritage pulled out to a 36-23 lead.

Western's Shannon Sebald battled to bring the Warriors back in the final stanza. Scoring seven fourth quarter points, she helped Western's offense show some life. But Heritage's Breana Trudell responded with 8 fourth quarter points of her own to help Heritage outscore Western 18-11 and cap off a 54-36 victory.

Trudell led all scorers with 12 points for Heritage with Abbey Miller and Skye Cieszlak adding 9.

Shannon Sebald recorded nine points for Western with Mallory Sebald scoring 7.
