Tied in the league with Lakers (with 6-1 records) the All Saints Cougars came up with a huge win over their longtime league rivals. Soaring to an early lead, the Cougars put the pressure on early. The desperate Lakers fought back in the final quarter, but succumbed to All Saints' free-throw masters in the final minutes.

Laker struck first, but the mighty Cougars answered right back with a three-pointer from Kevin Sweircz #14. The two bitter rivals remained neck and neck until All Saints superstar Adam Pijaszek #20 caught fire. Making it look easy, Pijaszek scored two three-pointers 32 seconds apart to put the Cougars up 15-7. Drew Janer #23 and Thomas Villano #41 joined in on the scoring with 4 points apiece, and at the end of the first quarter the Cougars held a strong 22-11 lead.

The Cougars offense had some trouble throughout the second quarter. Lakers defense appeared to have recovered from their dismal first quarter - they only allowed the Cougars to add 16 points to their total. While that would've been a cause for celebration amongst the Lakers, they were not celebrating. The Cougars answered with a defense twice as stubborn. All Saints were able to stop all but four shots and a pair of free-throws that hit net. Though they didn't have as an explosive of a quarter as they did in the first period of play, the Cougars confidently headed to their locker room up 38-22.

After the All Saints Pom Pon squad and Dance Team wowed the fans with another set of stellar routines the Cougars hit the hardwood again to defend their lead against a determined foe.

The desperate Lakers began to dig themselves out of the cellar in the third quarter. Led by Laker top scorer Chris Rowe #42, who had 18 points for the night, the Lakers were able to outscore the Cougars in the quarter to gain some momentum. The struggling Cougars temporarily lost the firepower from the normal top scorers due to a pressing Laker defense. Luckily All Saints' Justin Villano #40 was on the court to save the day - Justin tacked 11 points onto the Cougars total himself. Thanks to Villano's heroics, the Cougars managed to maintain a sizable lead of 55-41 heading into the decisive fourth quarter.

Free-throws were the name of the game for the Cougars in the final period of play. Lakers sent three different Cougars to the free-throw line a combined 11 times! Drew Janer hit one of his three chances, Justin Villano got one of two, Thomas Villano hit all four of his, and Adam Pijaszek pulled off an amazing ten points on eleven shots. The Cougar sharpshooters combined for 16 free-throw points!

The desperation from the Laker offense proved to be their downfall. The Cougars took the lead in their League with this 75-69 victory over the Lakers. On a added note: All Saints went on to beat Laker on the road 54-52 Friday night to push their League record to 8-1.
