To say the 7th Annual Wines Around the World wine tasting and auction for the Nathan Weidner Children's Advocacy Center was a hit would be a vast understatement.

It was a blast!

The Bay City Country Club was thronged with approximately 450 guests at the party, a cornucopia of fine food and wines worthy of the marbled halls of Europe.

The turnout and success of the event was a tribute to co-chairs Al Doner and Tom Doran and a 15 member committee. Al Satkowiak presided as president of the board of directors of the Nathan Weidner Center and Karen Lotter was events coordinator.

A lively auction featured three attractive items, a Pistons vs. Pacers game in center row seats provided by Fabiano Bros; Chef Fred Garcia of Old City Hall preparing dinner for 6 at your home with wines courtesy of Tom Doran of Fabiano; and a cooking and wine class for 8 at Shari's under direction of Chef Aaron Gaertner. The group will be chauffeured to the restaurant by limousine courtesy of Ivan Miller of Executive Mortgage.

Ninety-five items on the silent auction included such enticements as dinner for 8 in your home with Gary Bosco, a week in a condo in Winter Park, Colorado, Dom Perignon and champagne flutes, handmade fishing wreath and Tullymore play and stay golf package.

The soiree' was enhanced by the music of Dr. Lee Newton on the saxophone and Mollie Newton on the piano as guests supped on such delicacies as salmon on spicy sprouts with avocado cr`eme fraiche from Shari's Gourmet Dining. A highlighted wine was Firehouse Gewurztraminer.

The 11 food and wine vendors outdid themselves to serve gourmet items along with exotic wines, beers and ales.

Chef Dean Schultz of the Bay City Country Club boasted Black Lager marinated pork loin with smokey barbeque sauce and a Cdlos du Bois Reserve Cabernet Sauvingnon.

Chef Harry Dominowski offered Veal Parmesan with Italian bread salad and a Caposlado Prosecco wine.

Wild game soups and Hell's Half Mile lager were among the offerings of Chef Dave Minar of Oscar and Joey's Roadhouse.

Chef Polly Christian of Heatherfield's Restaurant at the Bay Valley Resort offered Smoked Salmon Canapes with a Santa Rita 120 Sauvignan Blanc wine.

Jamaican Jerk Chicken with Caribbean Rice and Citrus Salsa accented with Alice White Lexia Red wine was offered by Greg Kimbrue of the Kingfish Restaurant.

Rick Revette of Rattlesnake Rick's Roadhouse served up Smoked Cajun Jambalaya with Cornbread with a Juno Shiraz.

And Chef Mike Sheskey of Lumber Barons Charcoal Grill tantalized the palate with Lamb Souvlaki with Tzatziki Shrimp Latholemono Dolmades along with a Hinojasa Tempernillo wine.

Old City Hall's Fred Garcia was dishing out Grilled Beef Tenderloin with Fire Roasted Green Chile Salsa along with a Catalpa Malbec wine.
