The Cougars came out strong Monday evening versus the Peck Pirates. After watching their rivals, the North Huron Warriors, enjoy a comeback victory, the Cougars were more determined then ever to their game plan. "We wanted a balanced attack," said All Saints coach Mike Showalter. The Cougars lived up to that desire, jumping to an early lead that they held for the rest of the game.

Thomas Villano #41 secured the rebound for the Cougars and the domination began. The Cougars muscled their way to a 10-2 lead midway through the first quarter. Chase Bullis #42 of the Pirates put his team within five of that with a long three-pointer. Unfortunately for the Pirates that three-pointer awoke a sleeping giant. Drew Janer #23 surged down the court and answered the Pirates with a three-pointer of his own. The shocked Pirates could only chase the Cougars up and down the court from that point on. The Cougars shutout the Pirates offense for the rest of the first as they cruised to a 19-7 point lead.

The Cougars continued their domination in the early minutes of the second quarter. The Pirates only managed to tack two more points on the board as they watched All Saints extend their lead to 31-9. The Pirates then called a timeout to regroup and rethink their tragedy. What ever their plan was, it worked. The Pirates turned the tables on the Cougars, allowing only one more basket for the Cougars, but scoring 7 for themselves. At the end of the first half, All Saints still sat comfortably ahead 33-16.

The Cougars restored their earlier twenty plus point lead early in the third quarter. Going up 45-25, again the Pirates called a timeout. The Pirates again came out strong after a timeout. Led by Devin Meddaugh #12, who scored 13 in the third quarter and 21 for the night, the Pirates outscored the Cougars to narrow their deficit to 47-34.

If the Patriots thought the Cougars were out of gas, they were dead wrong. The Cougars fought back to quickly restore their lead to its former strength. With just under four minutes to play the Cougars sat atop a 63-20 point lead. With their lead well established Showalter recalled his starters and sent out the up-and-coming Cougars. Led by Garrett Bowker #2, who scored 5 points in the game, the second-line Cougars helped All Saints coast to a 67-45 victory.

The Cougars will have themselves a rematch with the Warriors of North Huron; the team they beat last year in the Regional Finals, on Wednesday night. "It's going to be an effort game" Coach Showalter said. "The team that works the hardest will get the win."
