The answer is . . . A Motorcycle.

The 39th Annual Blessing of the Bikes was held this past weekend in Baldwin, Michigan. It is held annually on the third Sunday in May. Thousands of bikers, bikes and onlookers were on hand this weekend to take in the festivities.

Baldwin is most likely known to you as the city at the headwaters of the Pere Marquette River -- One of the few rivers in the country designated as "Wild and Scenic." Baldwin is located about 40 miles East of Ludington at US Highway 10 and M-37.

If you fish for salmon or steelhead, you no doubt have either fished this river out of Baldwin or have longed to fish it.

Over 30,000 motorcycle riders and onlookers were on hand Sunday at 1:00 pm when riders motored onto the Baldwin Municipal Airport to be blessed for the upcoming summer season.

It was a great weekend . . . the warmest weather in the past few weeks and I was there and have pictures to share.

The blessing is organized by the Para-Dice Motorcycle Club of Grand Rapids. This event raises money with proceeds from the Blessing going to the St. Ann's Senior Nutrition Program.

The "Blessing" which started in 1972, had 4 bikes and 8 riders who gathered at St. Ann Catholic Church that first year in in Baldwin, MI and received a blessing for a safe and happy riding season.

After the event, the organizers posted the following on their Facebook site -- "Blessing of the Bikes Baldwin Michigan Weekend is over and was perfect!!! Warmest day of the year so far and to all that are on the road heading home ... BE SAFE AND THANKS FOR THE FUN!!! SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!!!"
